My first impression was: Wow! Then I continued looking at the photo and it started to irritate me that there is a hint of her face and her left arm and leg. The outline of her body and the lighting are simply amazing. However, I somehow would have tried to get a little (!) more of her face/arm/leg - or none of it. Just my opinion :-) Great work!

What a great picture! I love the detail, great dof. And the lighting of the cathedral and sharp buildings in the front transforming into slightly hazy buildings on the hill make for a very moody picture. Great in b&w.

Great capture of the reflection of the dramatic clouds. However, for my taste it is slightly too saturated. To be more pleasing I probably would have straightened the horizon. Nice work!

Nice work! I like landscapes (and the sun rays you caught!), I like HDR, I like b&w and I use the same frame on my (newer) photos, so what is not to like about your photo?! O.k., if I have to find something then I'd say that the sun is too much towards the center to be pleasing to me. I probably would have put it further to the right, either when taking the picture or in post processing. But that is just... good photo! All the best, Claudia

for taking the time to analyze the picture in such detail. You are right. I would have loved to have it absolutely symmetrical and the full hole in the picture. I just could not get it done with the 17 or rather 26 mm with the crop factor lens. I probably could have tweaked photoshop a bit more to get the building straight(er) - I'll work on it :-) Thanks!

Thank you all so much for your positive reactions! The bank - that would have been an option to try out. Fill light - actually the added vignette is taking the color out of the grass, I found it a little overwhelming, but now I think you are right and I'll try at least a little more. Open space - yep, that it was. And is, I believe ;-) Standing on top of the dike, which is really not that high, gives you a very nice view and kind of makes you feel 'standing in space' - I love the ocean!

There was some fairly dramatic lighting due to the clouds being moved

by the wind and I am not sure if I overdid or 'underdid' the photoshop

post processing. Thank you for your opinions!

Port Townsend, huh? I've been there :-) I like the angle and the hdr-feel of the sky. For an architecture photo I would probably try and make it totally symmetrical. If not when taking the photo, then with post processing. I have tried this, by straightening the lines a bit more and cropping some (especially the roof top on the left sticking out). It is still not ideal, everything too much centered, horizontally, and you are loosing some of the building's details at the bottom. While at it I snuck in a little more contrast. I do like your photoshop post processing. It gives the picture a dark and dramatic mood. However, I would have cropped it a little narrower, without the statue on the left. Somehow that always draws my attention away from the building itself. And possibly straightened the horizontal, it seems to slope slightly to the right. But this is really nitpicking ;-) - its a good picture/post processing. All the best, Claudia

Thanks, Alf, for sharing your thoughts. I agree, to see the complete roofs would have been nice. Unfortunately back then (2009) I took the panorama photos horizontal/landscape trying too much to keep the foreground (an iron fence), which I actually now lost, too, during stitching. Ironic, huh?! But I thought the shape and colors of the houses were worth showing nonetheless. Thank you!

These houses in Luxemburg are some 250+ years old and stand pretty

'crooked'. But they are so colorful and lively in their different

widths and heights. Thank you for your thoughts!
