1.
Dear photographers;
I've posted a question before about tripods for travel and TommyDiGiovanni kindly suggested the benro mefoto; I am particularly interested in this one benro mefoto A1350Q1K
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/926379-REG/benro_a1350q1k_travel_tripod_kit.html
However; I've always heard manfrotto is such a good brand. Also; 3 way is probably my favorite head; yet this looks much heavier and more for everyday use:

BOGEN/MANFROTTO 3221WN WITH 3047 3-WAY HEAD WITH QUICK RELEASE PLATE 9-76'

I only brought this up for comparison since they are the same price.

Could someone who knows about tripods kindly advise me which is the better tripod? I can put up with say weight it in a trip if its a much better tripod for everyday use later on!

Thank you Kindly

 2.
Thanks everybody!
Less focus on photography..more on the occassion and us 2; less to no macro is a good idea!
Farooq: your travel advise is highly appreciated; I will get a fast lens like 35L for the aquarium
Tommy: I will check out the benros'
I think I will limit the whole lens number to 4; and only take 2 with me at any time; and only 1 camera offcourse
regards to all
3.
Dear photographer;
I'm planning to go for my honeymoon to Malaysia for 12 days.
I am going KL; Langkawi; Penang and possibly one of: Cameron Highlands or Melacca

I aim to get 1 or even 2 photo shoot packages by a professional photographer there.

So this is still me taking photos in travel; with more focus off course on honeymoon; me and my wife to be photos portraits; or single photos of just me or just her since both of us will probably need a tripod to do both of us in a photo.
So; I have the following kit and I seek your advise:
I definitely won't carry everything; but I'm happy to even carry up to 5 lenses and 1 camera.
I will go butterfly park (1 or 2) and so Macro would be awesome.
My kit:
Cameras: Canon 6D; Canon 5d MkI
Lenses:
17-40 L
24-70 L
35L
85 1.8
135L
100 Canon macro f2.8 USM
70-200 F4 IS L
Do you recommend any nice travel tripod?
Previous experience tells me 70-200 and either 17-40/24-70 or all 3 is a must! What you recommend for portraits out of the 3 primes? or any other suggestions. I plan to take the 6D only and leave 5DI.
My aim is to shoot: us two; nature; buildings; culture; amusement parks; zoos; etc...
As you know portraits of us two is highest priority off course

Regards!
Hydar

 4.
Guys; I really appreciate the idea of 1.6x TC's by getting APS-c; first I had T3i and sold it for incovenience and lack of use; and bulk and also ISO wasn't happy with it.
The thing is if Nikon's ff cameras switch to aps-c with a simple button; why would I buy a second camera for a feature that should have been in Canon's cameras and will realitstically probably be there in the next coming models...
Better buy a 1.4x now and when that feature comes use it as further bonus, you know what I mean :)

 5.
Hello people;
SO I took the plunge and ordered the Canon 6D and I am glad I did; even though haven't come yet!
Now I want to get into some bird photography; nothing serious, just with my 70-200 F4 IS. I was planning initially to get the Kenko 1.4x as it had the best reviews out of any 3rd party TC
the problem is; some 5d iii users have put many posts about that TC not working on their camera, though it works on older cameras just perfect. I suspect it might be the case with 6D
the canon TC 1.4x iii is ridiculously pricey and i will NEVER buy it :)
Any advice; used canon tc 1.4x ii is like 250-300 which is still pricey but manageable if it's my best bet; anyone tried a TC with 6D? please advice me. If I pay 300 or so I can always buy the 70-300 IS; and some third party TC will trick the camera and make it autofocus at aperture F8 so that would be a thought.
I know dedicated high grade or high zoom prime is a thought; but I don't want to spend like on the 300 prime or 400 or 100-400 at this stage.

happy shooting

 6.
I'm also upgrading from 5dC to either 5DIII or 6D.
Of the cameras u listed; all initial non formal tests/reviews of the 6D suggest it has about 0.5 stops better ISO than 5DIII; some say 1 stop if comparing JPEG's btw the two to almost non existent e.g. 0.25-0.3 stops when comparing RAW files. 6D looks more 'punchier' with better edge sharpness in JPEG's due to ? better processing
based on u saying ISO is main I would consider 6D.
For me and I realized many pro's too; the 5DIII is much more well rounded camera and offers so much more for the price difference; I mean if u need ISO and shoot in low light; it may mean AF is important too for you?
definitely 6d or 5d III better than 7d or 70d or any aps-c for iso.

 10.
Hey people!
I have the classic 5D I; I've been waiting for 6D before I decide on my upgrade.
The choice is between the 5DII, 5DIII and 6D.
6D just came out a few days ago here in Australia; no formal reviews as yet; customer feedback on amazon.com seems great.
It seems ISO is better than 5dIII or same at worst!
AF is criticized as being 'slightly behind' 5dIII and Nikon D600 in some customers reviews. However whilst some say it's only slightly worse than 5dIII (which I find hard to believe) others say it's pretty much the same as 5dII's AF :)
All in all; 5dIII dropped easily 20% in price since it came out; I'm waiting for buying 6D in the next month or two once prices come down a bit; but so far it seems like a no brainer to pick the 6D over the 5D II esp when price becomes similar.
Last question; does anyone know what the 6D AF is like compared to 5D mark I? thanks
If anyone finds a proper review of the 6D online; please share it with us.

 11.
Hey people;

quick question I got the 5d Mark I

I noticed the charger and/or battery not working. Now battery also fully used and so I need to buy either a charger, battery or both.

If there is a much higher chance it's a battery that's dead I would prefer to buy battery only and try. Given the charger not been knocked or anything like that isn't it safe to assume it's a battery thing?

also pls someone nice tell me name of batter on 5D mark I is itcalled E160814 or BP-511A since that's what I see on the back of my battery. Also I want to buy the cheap Ebay one e.g. chinese for $10 rather than the Canon original at $60-80 any experiences there.

thanks

 12.
Heya photogs
I just wanted to share my thought about lens changing and any recommendations about it. I have 7 lenses and want to cut down, both number/weight/cost. I have in case someone asks: 17-40,35l, 24-70, 70-200f4is, 85 1.8, 135L, 100 macro, 135l. I want to sell the 85 and 24-70.
I use a 5D. I bought the 85 1.8 almost exclusively for indoor soccer/tennis and found that I haven't used it much in the last year. Like 3 times max! I intend to sell it.
However I also have the 70-200 F4 IS and 135L. To be honest of them 3 the most useful one by far is the white lens. Also great quality. I love my 135L a lot too; definitely best bokeh by far and best lens i've used.
I have a thought to sell the f4is,135l and 85/1.8 and get the 70-200 F2.8 IS II; any thoughts or suggestions or criticisms of such move?
I'm thinking it will be better for sports, better for events photography and candid portraits, worse for posed portraits but by a tiny margin 135L vs 2.8 II; but just overall isn't it a good idea? Ohh and Ignore the 2.8 being heavy I don't go hiking with my lenses :)
If I do that and sell the 24-70 which i don't like colours of I'm thinking the set will become: 17-40, 35l, 70-200 f2.8 is ii, 100 macro and that's IT!
thanks for your input

 13.
Scott: but these two shots above had the flash 430exii; so what you mean by bounced on? The flash was pointed up to the ceiling with a simple diffuser. if this isn't good enough maybe I should have a bigger flash like 580ex or bounce it backwards to the wall behind me? whichever direction gives more light?

Also thanks for letting me know 5d Mk III has face detect that is '''A MUST''' for me, since many of my shots involve me giving the camera to some noobs in my family (so I can appear in the photo!) who often miss the whole focus completely.

 14.
Hi fellow photographers;

I just returned from overseas where I did extensive shooting with my extended family. Most shots indoor. Poor lighting. So much that I found myself using max ISO 1600 on my 5dC..with results being grainy and much messier than ISO 400 on my 1000D I shot 3 years ago when I was there! (I think their lighting got worse or something)

The question is I found that ISO 1600 is bad on 5DC
At the same time, any group shot or even couple shot (if couple not close to each other) requires an aperture of F4 at the most. F2.8 is BAD. F5.6-F8.

But with my 5DC bad ISO 1600, I can go to 1000 at most for my taste; and thus my only option to shoot group family photos is to slower the shutter speed. Now since they are static in >90% of pics; I am thinking now that Image Stabilization is a huge plus for me.

I am now thinking to return to the 24-105L next time I go there, or get Tamron 24-70 VC.
I put below links to two photos of what I mean by family group photos. Notice in first one I used F2.2 and I was lucky all were sharp, but Usually I Miss close to half of the people out of focus. The second one was at F1.4 and I missed the guy in the foreground not surprising!

First one:

Second one:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/eljamali/7740076704/in/photostream

Any advice if you were shooting in such a situation and want similar group photos what would you use? lenses and settings and body? I am just thinking for these photos the 24-105L or the tamron 24-70 VC with it's image stabilization will serve me much better than my 24-70L given the poor lighing and static subjects.

THE OTHER question killing me PLEASE help me: I want a fully automatic mode that focuses on faces just like any point and shoot sony camera my cousins have overseas! or at least some auto mode without all these focus points and one which doesn't miss much, because when I choose all points it's useless and misses most of the time. If the 5DIII has something in it's autofocus geared towards faces/people please let me know.

 15.
Ok, FInally someone suggests the 35L!
I was surprised by everyone's answers to be honest, I thought ppl would full heartedly recommend the 35L and 135L...everyone seems geared towards the 85 :)

I will take the 24-70, 70-200 for sure. I will toss and take the 85 because it's light; and one of either 35L or 135L, probably 35L since 85 is very similar to 135...
