1. Thank you for your feedback - my Internet has been down the past two days and I have been dying to get back on here!

This is for bride and groom shots and bridal party shots after the ceremony, I have also just purchased the Nikon sb700, I

will be taking a large reflector with me but I will not be using any off camera flash as I am not confident in using it yet. I

have just started researching fill flash Nadine I think this may be my best option if you have any more feedback I'm all

    ears

  2.
Hi All,
I am shooting my 2nd wedding next weekend, only problem is the weather! It is forcasted to be 40 degrees and sunny the bride wants photos in a small garden behind the reception place and it will be around 3.30pm. The only problem is there is not many shady spots at all nor is she willing to budge with venue.
I would just like as much advice as possible with the settings you use in direct sunlight or any tricks or tips to get the best photos (really worried about the shadowing on the face)
I am using two nikon D7000 one with a 17-55mm 2.8 and one with a 50mm 1.4G, I also have a back up body of a D90 with a 18-55 or 35mm 1.8. I have two SB600 flash units.
Thank you!
3. I have already made a contract and she has signed it :) it covers me for any act of god situations and the copyright of all

images- and the use of the images for marketing purposes- thanks Jerry! I have a book of poses/ shots I want to get on

the day which I'm taking with me so if I get flustered I'll have it handy. I'll post some images in the next weeks! Thanks for

    everyones help

  4. Wow!! Thanks so much for all the responses and suggestions, I have made plastic bag covers just incase fingers crossed the weather

plays nice. I have about 12 memory cards (4g each) and have purchased alot of spare batteries. I think I'll have my sister stick to P mode

and I'll stay on Shutter priority I am not confident enough to go fully manual yet! Thanks again for all your feedback it was a huge help!!

  5. Hi Everyone,

My first wedding is on Saturday- favor for a family friend who can't afford a professional photographer, I'd just like to know your camera

settings for inside table shots, the room will be lit up at times and the lights will be dimmed for the first dance. I have two Nikon d7000's

    one with a tamron 17-55mm 2.8 and one with a 50mm 1.4 I also have a 35mm Nikon 1.8 and a 18-55mm 4.6. I would like nice sharp pictures.I will be using a sb600. If

you could suggest the best settings for indoor table shots I'd like all the help I can get. Thank you :)

  6. Hi Everyone,

So I am helping a family friend out as she could not afford a wedding photographer so I thought it would be great experience and would

add alot to my portfolio if I offered to photograph her wedding! The forecast is raining but she is having an outside wedding in a garden

    just afew questions

    1. How do you keep your camera gear dry if it starts raining mid ceremony and do you still stay out and photograph the wedding - any tips

    would be much appreciated

    2. How many approx memory cards would you use per wedding and how many photos do you think I should stick to taking ( I'm not

getting paid so I don't want to take thousands than be stuck for days sorting through them)

    3. What settings would you generally use in an outdoor cloudy day for weddings? I currently have a d7000 I also have my sister helping

me with the same camera, I am using a 17-55mm tamron 2.8 and a 50mm 1.4 Nikon my sister will have the 55-200mm Nikon to take

shots from the back of the ceremony. Apeture, s/s and iso?

I know these questions may seem silly but I want to do the best job possible and would appreciate all the advice I can get

    Thanks :)

  7.
Thank you everyone for your feedback you have all been so helpful, i just ordered at Tamron 17-55mm f2.8 VC version and I cant wait to try it out! Also ordered a gary fong lightsphere, the wedding isnt for another 6 weeks so I have plenty of time to get use to the lens. Thanks again!

  8.
Hi Everyone,
I have been doing numerous courses on photography for the last 12 months and I have been asked by a family friend to photograph there wedding as they are on such a strick budget that it doesnt allow any money for a photographer. I am not a professional but would like to do the best job I can. I am happy to do it to build up my portfoilio. It is an outside wedding in summer.
Id like your opinion on the best lens for wedding photography at the moment i have a D7000 with a Nikon 1.4 50mm, Nikon 1.8 35mm and the 55-200mm 18-55mm standard lens that comes with the kit. I am on a budget of about $1000 and am open to Sigma or Tamron lens options. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you :)

  10.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I always get such useful information back from this forum especially from Eric and Elliott so thankyou!. I think im definately going to go with the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 I done abit of research over the past two days and along with your feedback I think this lens would be the way to go considering ill be shooting in low light, I have a 18-55mm that came with my last lens kit but it just isnt good in low light. Thanks Jim thats very true :) Eric you would be spot on last time I checked I am female! Thanks for sharing the photos Patrick its a lovely shot!

  11.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, Im going to try out my D7000 with the 50mm this weekend on my cousins baby but am definitely going to look into the 105 macro, Richard that photo is amazing. Thanks again

  12.
Nikkor 35mm 1.8 AF-S or a Nikkor 50mm 1.4G?

I currently own the Nikkor 50mm 1.4G and works great on my D7000 but Im wondering if anyone can give me feedback on the 35mm?. I take alot of group shots and dance photos and sometimes I can get everyone in the frame unless i take a good 7-8 meter jump backwards so id like a lens that I can use in small spaces. Ive also just started to get into newborn photography so am wondering how well this lens does at portraits and group photos as well as low light?
Thanks :)

  13.
Hi,
Im just starting to get into Newborn Photography i currently own a Nikon D7000 with a 50 1.4G and am wondering if anyone can tell me the best lens to use for newborn photography. I have all props equipment (bean bag stand blankets hats diaper covers etc). What are the settings you normally use for newborns? It will be inside with the available light coming from only a window, I don't think I should use flash as I would want the baby asleep most of the time.
Any help would be great
Thanks!

  14.
I have asked afew questions already in relation to a D3000 and D90 settings for Dance photography, I was asked on the weekend to photograph a charity performance night. It will be in a private room with a stage, 5 dance performances and 5 singers as well as fire breathers and other performers. It will be dimly lit when there is performances with possible strobe lighting. I will also be taking photos of each table and people walking around with the lights on.
Im thinking I will rent a camera and a lens as I want to do the best possible job because its being advertised. From the comments from my previous posts im thinking a D7000 and a 70-200mm VRII I know afew people who have FX cameras and swear it is worth getting a D700 instead? Its only about $120.00 more.
I would be getting the lens and camera a day before has anyone used this combo for dance or action and know the settings I should set it to? I want to freeze the movement when dance performances are on I dont like Blurred effect photos.
I only want a Nikon Lens are there any other lenses worth looking at? I prefer VR and I dont want to manually focus.

Thanks :)
Brooke

  15.
Thanks very much for all the responses.
Its a mixture of Jazz, Hip hop and contemporary so some are slow and some are quite fast paced. I wont be using a tripod or monopod as ill be moving around and I just think it will be too annoying. I think my best bet it to get there early and take test photos and set my camera accordingly. It looks like its time to upgrade cameras if im going to be doing dance performances regularly. Thanks everyone!

  16.
I currently have a Nikon D90 and a D3000 and am photographing a dance performance (no flash allowed but it wont be pitch black there will be a medium amount of light as its in a hall.).
What settings would be best to have my camera set to?. I currently have the Nikon 50mm 1.4G and the Sigma 24-70mm 2.8.
I can be as close as I want (3 meters away the closest or 10m away the farthest). I want the photos to be clear with no blurring effects.
Yes you guessed it im very new to photography im only doing this as a favor for a friend. Comments appreciated. Thanks.
