<p>Rolleiwiders,<br /> I would like to protect the glass of my viewing lens on my Rolleiflex FW. Unfortunately, the 49mm glass would have to be "elevated" from a recessed holder, as the Heidosmat "outside" element is more proeminent than the FX and comes outside of the filter carrier inner thread.<br>

Furthermore, the filter/shade of the bottom lens is wider than the "normal" rolleiflex, which prevents the use of a traditional filter on the viewing lens. I suspect that one would have to hand-craft a protection lens for the viewing lens, which would have to be recessed and somewhat elevated (maybe by 1mm). Or is there another solution to this problem?</p>

<p>Do not let your rolleiflex sit on a shelf collecting dust, use it, don't worry about scratches, do you think picasso worried about wasting paint and brushes? Take it out and shoot, that's what it does best.</p>

<p>Kirk, this is a valid question, the reasons to buy new vs. used are, in this case, an added warranty and a better meter system (than the 'F').</p>

<p>What are the most common issues with the FX? Is it difficult to service? I was hoping that a TLR was much easier to service than say, a MF rangefinder or SLR.</p>

I'm looking to purchase a Rolleiflex 2.8FX in the USA (although the seller can be international) from a reputable

source, I saw that B&H photo carries one but I can't tell if it has the seiko or copal shutter or a zeiss 80mm or

schneider, in truth, I'm not even sure, reading the description if it's a GX or FX nor which color (although this

matters less) it is.

 

Keh currently has a used GX, but I would perfer a more recent FX. Some are available on Ebay, but shipping from

Asia, can those sources be trusted? Please let me know how I can acquire one in 2011.
