I like the shot - it's busy and alive - you've revealed only parts of the figure but the composition and the suggestion of what's not included add up to make the image a strong one. The slightly subdued colour (perhaps I'm just used to Velvia !) is nice

He looks more than a little annoyed. Either include a bit more of his hand behind her back or crop it out altogether perhaps. Nice lighting captured and exposed to perfection (notice the creases on his shirtfront.

really nice shot Andre - perhaps cropping out the skirting board (?) to the bottom right would help make the image even stronger and focussed. The face of the lady is just one burned out highlight but it doesn't seem to matter.

Great shot Peter ! Great lighting (well seen) congrats for keeping some shadow detail while only blowing out highlights enough for effect. Good use of strong sidelight to capture wall textures. Strong composition

nice shot with a great background - I like the bokeh effects with the highlights bottom left. The gradation of strong light (right) to shadow adds to the interest

The stamen look out of focus - this is where our eyes are drawn - the rear flower looks as if it is trying to emerge from behind the front one which is blocking it.

I like this image - it is strong and dynamic as graphic art. I think the circle would be better to the left though giving an offset cross as in some national flags
  1. I like the concept. Your grass has printed/scanned a little yellow - is this because of amatuer film or the processing on an amatuer channel on a minilab ?

I think that compositionally you can probably lose a bit of the grass at the bottom and the shot will look stronger.

  2. I really like the subtle colour of the sky in the distance - it sets the picture up - great atmosphere you've captured - I've just realised, it's Flanders - that kind of makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's a beautiful picture. Well exposed. The feeling of bleakness is well served by a background without much detail. Some detail in the background would probably also work well but then I guess it'd be a different shot !
  3. severe angles make for interesting but uneasy viewing. Good understated colour with splashes of twilight on top of reflected building really adding to the shot - would appear a lot harsher without that splash.

    Aquae sulis ?

Nice tonality - cries out for a little more tone to the foreground column - perhaps just a smidgeon of fill-flash ? the reflections suggest the background well and the tight cropping of the background is effective.

  4. It's nice to see so many Australian shots here. It's also nice to see a different take on this one - I've never seen it shot like this - well seen !

I like the shadows cast in the spray and the silhouette of the man.
