  1. Holy Matrimony Boy Wonder, this is a tremendous shot!

I love every detail that has been pointed out so far and it really never struck me that anyone was looking down their nose at these folks, at least I hope not, hell, this could be my family. Not every wedding looks like it was arranged by the editors at Modern Bride, this image shows that (even if Marc shoots itinsert smiley emoticon here) This is just life, dirty socks and all. I love it.

Kristian, you sound like a reasonable person so Im assuming youre being a bit facetious, but your comment brings up a good issue. In my mind No Words: posts should be comment free. Just a group of images, shared for the sake of sharing. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, I think there is real value having a way of posting images without fear of critique. Some people just dont want it and this is their opportunity to post with out that added stress.

For all the rest of us why not just post more Words: threads. Based on the discussion above (and constant comments in the No Words:), I think many in the forum would prefer these anyway. This would be an option that preserves the best qualities of both types of posting.

  3. John,

I understand from the title where you might have been going with this but for me it doesn't quite succeed. I not sure the perspective or the composition is the problem, Im thinking the light colors and low contrast might be the issue. I played around with it as a B&W and I think it needs to be a bit more stark.

  4. I adjust levels, contrast, and brightness of the overall image to match the print. I would rather shoot the image again than do any further manipulation. I would never remove an object from an image, in fact I don't even want to crop. The aesthetics of working "in camera" are where I find the most enjoyment.

  5. Take a few seconds to actually think about what you're trying to capture, then focus and you'll end up with a better image than 99.9% of the general P&S public can produce. Of course show it to anyone and the immediate comment will be wow! what kind of camera do you have?

I use a Leica M over a digital for two reasons, neither of which has anything to do with the media the image is stored on.

    Regards,

  6. Thanks for all the help guys. I hadn't considered that fact that it is in exactly the the same spot before it was mentioned above (and therefor not a processing issue). And I've already ran several rolls of film through it. I just haven't developed any of it, so I guess I'll go drop it off today and see what it looks like. I'll post again once I find out what the issue is.

  7. Can anyone tell me what the cause of the dark streaks on this

negative might be caused by? I had this developed at my local shop.

Usually they do good work, so I'm wondering if this might have been

something I did or if it was them. It's not on the whole roll only

on frames 2-9 then on the 10th it's gone. It re-occurrs to a lesser

degree on 14, 16 and 22?? Any help would be appreciated.

  8. Michael,

I would imagine a person of your critical nature to be able to discern the difference between a "No words:" thread and a Critique request. Of course if the difference is lost on you due to your unfamiliarity with the concept, then let me help: the No Words: threads were intended to be a place were people could share images on a common theme without "fear" of critique or even comment. A crazy nonsensical idea that, believe it or not, some of us see great value in. Sharing just for the sake of sharing. Imagine that!

However if you are/were aware of this concept yet still chose to ignore it because you feel your right to critique somehow trumps everyone elses right to a "silent" thread then you are nothing more than rude. Thinking man that you are, I would expect you to consider this and offer an apology to the group.

Do the right thing, as my buddy Spike would say

    Regards,

  9. Ha! I missed three on the way home today! Two because I couldn't turn the car around fast enough and one because I couldn't find the parent of the child to ask permission. It happens all the time so long as I'm looking. And yes, each time I think I should have blocked traffic or just clicked away (well maybe not with someone else's kids).

    Regards,
