I've viewed your image again at home on a calibrated monitor and realised that there is more detail in the shadows than I was seeing at work. Nice job.

RE increasing the exposure, perhaps you could have re-composed so that there was not so much dark area without detail? Portrait perhaps? Velvia is notorious for losing detail in the shadow. I would increase the exposure next time your there. I often shoot something better the second time after consideration. It�s a pretty spot.

I like it. Vibrant foreground, moody sky. The roads work too. -
I think the cyclist is great foreground. It leads the eye into the image nicely.
