nang 0 Posted October 6, 2004 This is sort of a new area for me (well, honestly, all areas are new areas for me). Some people would advise me to use a longer shutter speed for this -- is that simply a matter of preference? Also, what can I do (in the field) to counteract the strong blue cast in the photo? Thanks for any comments Link to comment
jason_eadie 0 Posted October 6, 2004 RE increasing the exposure, perhaps you could have re-composed so that there was not so much dark area without detail? Portrait perhaps? Velvia is notorious for losing detail in the shadow. I would increase the exposure next time your there. I often shoot something better the second time after consideration. Its a pretty spot. bekster 0 Posted October 6, 2004 I think it is a matter of preference. You can have the contrast between the soft water and sharp surroundings or the vibrant energy of crisp splashing water. This is a very beautiful shot, somewhere in between and I think it works well... Just do what pleases you... See this sharp water shot if you haven't already... http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2511131 Link to comment
jason_eadie 0 Posted October 6, 2004 I've viewed your image again at home on a calibrated monitor and realised that there is more detail in the shadows than I was seeing at work. Nice job. Link to comment
nang 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Thanks everyone for the comments. I've scrutinized the slide under magnification and there seems to be a lot more detail in the shadow areas in the actual slide. I tried to make the digital representation of this image as close to the slide as possible, but I guess there are some limits to what I can achieve. Link to comment
