  1. I took this photo early one morning after a heavy frost. The sun was

rising and the frost was quickly melting. Any thoughts on the

composition or execution of the photo would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I got some feedback on this photo already, but was looking for some

more. I actually like the way the sky is overexposed, the dark woods

and the bright sunny day outside the canopy of the trees. It's pretty

close to the way I remember seeing it. I'd like any thoughts about

this photo or any ideas to consider next time I find a situation like

this. Any ratings would be appreciated too, but comments help more.

    Thank you.

A picture of my daughter peeking around a stone pillar. I don't shoot

many portraits, mostly of my daughter when she's willing, but would

like to get better at it. And her being a rambunctious 3 year old, I

pretty much shoot spontaneously, no time to set anything up. Any

comments concerns or criticisms would be appreciated. Thank you.

  3. I like my original better too. I'm not a fan of digital manipulation, although I have used it to remove distracting objects (see my Lulu Lake image in the Canoeing Pictures Folder). I'm also not sure how I feel about others tampering with my photos. But thanks for the input. I think the lack of contrast adds to the softness of the scene and reflects the way I actually saw it that late summer afternoon.
  4. How is my composition on this photo? Being on the pier of course

didn't give me a lot of options for camera position, but I could crop

it with my wide-angle zoom. I used a polarizer to make the rainbow

pop. I only had a few moments to start shooting as everything

    happened quite quickly.

  5. I took this photo of a friend canoeing in SE Wisconsin. The color of

the lighting is all natural, I was shooting into the sun on a misty

and cool morning. I used no filters and did not enhance the exposure

or colors in Photoshop. I think it was a pretty good photo except

when I took the shot I didn't notice Rick had a big old honking

anchor hanging off the back of his boat. Actually it wasn't that big,

but the silhoutte was very distinct and to me, it distracted from the

purity and calmness of the scene so I removed it in Photoshop. Is

actually removing a distracting element from a photo wrong? What

about adding something? What are the limits and at what point does it

become "digitally manipulated"? Either way I'm stuck with the anchor

on the original slide and there's no way of faking that.
