Hi Joe, I don't know if the non-photo side of Selphy prints could be printed elsewhere. They are not designed to be printed on the back, so my guess would be no. Although I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried it. To your other points, the standardized image would be the same for each print. The back would have a graphic specific to the organization printed on it, and the front would be a portrait/photo of an event participant, given to them on the spot. So the Selphy would not be wasteful - the desired product is a single 2-sided print, given to a single participant. The Selphy is set up for exactly that - minus the 2-sided feature. Getting 4 per page would not be useful.

Hello, I am looking for a printer that I can use at events where I'll need to shoot and print on site. I'll need to pre-print cards on the back with standardized image/info, then print the front with a photo on-site. The cards should be around baseball card size, give or take. Canon Wi-Fi compatible would be great, but SD reader would be fine. I have to be able to pack the printer in luggage for air travel. Something like the Canon SELPHY 1200 would be perfect - if it could print both sides. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance, Derrick

I am fortunate to have some flexibility in my schedule. In most cases this work would be pre-scheduled, and in all cases it would be on my own time. The ownership of photos would be strictly mine.<br> I agree with Michael regarding charging for time. I tried that years ago when shooting weddings and portraits, and quickly learned that it only punishes me for being efficient, and devalues the product. Otherwise, I'd have no question here - I'd simply charge $50 (or whatever) per hour and be done with it.<br> I think asking local pros what they would charge is a good place to start. It's akin to taking bids on behalf of the client. But it might be tough to find a comparable service, as my 'production' will consist of a camera and flash, where any local pro would likely factor in a couple cases of equipment and possibly an assistant. The one I spoke with (I used to work with her) quoted $100 per head - $500 minimum. She said she wouldn't leave the studio for less. I get it, but it's not a fair comparison.</p>

<p>Hello,</p> <p>I work for the Department of [Government Agency A] in [City A]. An associate has referred me to 'Bob' who works in the PR department of [Government Agency B] in [City B]. He frequently needs photos (usually simple head shots, sometimes small groups) of government employees in City A, but doesn't have anyone there who can provide work of acceptable quality. After seeing a head shot I submitted to his office of someone I work with for a newsletter (it was simple and very well done), he asked if he could call on me to provide photos of more City A employees in the future, on a freelance basis, outside of my regular duties. I have a background in portrait photography so this would be easy and fun, and I agreed. The most likely scenario would be: Bob asks for a head shot of Sally in City A. I call Sally and arrange a time to meet (in the courtyard, atrium, wherever) and get a few shots. I spend 10-15 minutes (if that) editing and send 2 -3 files to Bob for use in a government publication. This would all take about 1 hour of my time outside of my duties, plus occasional travel within City A.<br> I am waiting to hear from Bob regarding any arrangement he would like to set up, but I'd like to be ready with an idea of what a fair pricing structure would be. It's possible he already has a fixed budget/price schedule for this type of work. Has anyone out there done head shots for a federal government office? <p>Hi Jim, I've had the 40mm 2.8 STM a few months now and I really love it. The price was a nice draw, but the greatest features for me are the sharpness and clarity. It is very sharp wide open too (yeah - not really THAT wide, I know, but still). Add to that the super compact size and price and it's a clear winner. I've had the 50 1.4 for something like 15 years and used it shooting weddings most of that time. I found it to be very good quality all around, although it is not as fast focusing as the 100 f2 or 200 2.8. The 40 has pretty much replaced it for me though, as I don't need the wide aperture anymore - I shoot mostly night landscapes. Also, the newer ISO performance lately has assumed some of the low-light duty. Regarding MF, it is worth noting the 40 STM does not have FTM. In fact, even in MF mode, the MF ring initiates an electronic function in the lens to move the elements, versus a purely mechanical setup. It works fine for me, but if you are a FTM fan, this could go in the 'minus' column. I have not seen anything on the 24 STM. But I am dissappointed that it is an EF-S lens, otherwise I'd likely get one. If it's close to the quality of the 40, it's worth packing.</p>
