<p>Im writing about Robert Frank for my dissertation. Im focusing on his series The Americans and looking at what it is which makes this work still so relelvant in todays practice. I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this or knew of any interesting and worth while essays to read surrounding this. <br>

<p>Any got any ideas of books or articles which would be good to read with regards to ideas about obsession and art? Im interested in gaining a greater understanding of the topic of obsession itself as well as trying to find a link (however vague!) with art/ artists in general. </p>

<p>Im still a little unsure; ill be the first to admit there's a lot more research i need to do. Im interested in looking in to the artistic value of painting versus photography. Has photography taken over from painting? To be completely honest, im still in the very very early stages and as yet am not in uni to ask any tutors. For an old essay i looked at Jeff Walls work and how he is influenced by painting and compared his work with that which it was influenced by. I ever so slightly touched upon the idea of has photography taken over from painting and I want to, I guess be put in the right direction as to where i can look to research more and find out more information surrounding this idea of painting and its relationship to photography. Im sorry its all very unsure at this stage. If im completely honest, im really at the very very beginning of trying to formulate a question and research, photography and its relationship to painting has been an idea ive been interested in so i thought it would be a good place to start from. </p>
