I had driven almost two hours, after getting up at 3 am to get there well before dawn. This was the first time I had been in this area in almost 20 years. Sometimes, you just seem to skirt around an area until the time is right.This place is also called the "Gloss Mountains" due to the ground and hillsides being littered with an amazing variety of gypsum. You will find selenite crystals, anhydrous nodules, and pure white gypsum throughout the area, which encompasses at least a hundred square miles of territory.
