  1. Thanks for the reply Scott. I've shot at Jensen Beach before, and will probably do it again this time. I'm just on the lookout for something different. The last time I went to Jensen Beach to shoot, I got there about an hour before sunrise. I found this ribbon of shells about 4 feet wide by a few hundred yards long. I took this shot that morning.<div>004d4d-11642184.jpg.44986fd1c73d492525e247aa6dd2faf7.jpg</div>
  2. I'm going to be visiting family in Port St Lucie Florida in mid

March. I would like to head to the coast a few mornings for some

sunrise shots. I'm looking for a beach with some structure like

rocks, trees, etc. I don't want to have to spend too much time

searching for a good spot when I get there. What are your favorite

    spots in this area?

  3. I just bought a GVII (my first LF camera) and would like to use a

darkcloth instead of the "viewer" thing on the back. I don't know

how anyone can use a loupe with that thing attached.

My mother is a seamstress and is going to make a darkcloth for me.

She is going to put elastic on the camera side with some velcro on

the bottom to seal it up a bit. She is going to make it black on the

inside and white or silver on the outside. How long should it be? I

would think that if I could get my face about a foot away from the GG

and still be under the dark cloth that might be plenty, but I'm not

    sure.

Any tips on making my own dark cloth?

  4. Do yourself a favor and use a tripod all the time.

With your Hassy and a 150, I'd say 1/500 is about the lowest acceptable handheld shutter speed. Realistically, how often would you come across a speed this fast. I'd say hardly ever, but I don't know what you shoot either. I don't think I've taken a shot over 1/125 for a year.

Using a tripod will not only help with sharper images, it will force you to slow down with your compositions and make you think.

  5. Thanks for all of the great advice here.

I use a 20 a lot in 35mm, but that is mainly for the extreme DOF it allows. I really enjoy making images with a strong foreground. The 20 pushes the middle & background out way too far sometimes though. I guess that's why I thought that a 90 in 4x5 (equal to 28mm or so in 35mm) would be perfect. Sounds like it will be too hard to work with since I'm new to 4x5, so I'll pass for now.

I've found a Fujinon CM-W 125 5.6 that fits my price range. Maybe I'll go with that.

  6. I've just purchased my first LF camera. It's a Graphic View II. I

am now shopping for a lens for the camera. I love the wide angle

perspective, so I'm considering a 90 as my first lens. I can only

afford one lens right now. I've done a bit of research on this site

and can't really come up with a decent answer to my question.

Can I put a 90 Super Angulon on the GVII and still use movements?

  7. I have recently aquired a Yashicamat 124G, my intro to MF. I've shot

a few rolls through and it seems to work beautifully.

While shooting yesterday, I ran into a problem. I was using a cable

release and a tripod. I had the shutter button in the locked position

with the cable release screwed in. I fired the shutter. After I

wound the film, the shutter fired again while I was cocking it. I

checked the cable release to be sure it retracted completely and it

looked like it did. I wound the film again and the shutter fired

again when I cocked it. I took the cable release off before

winding/cocking again and it worked as it should.

I've used the cable release before with the shutter button in both

the locked and unlocked position with no problems. I'm not sure why

this happened. Is it possible that I had the cable release screwed

    in too far?
