  1. I like the composition, it is rather balanced around the man, which is great. The sepia is OK too, but what is rather distracting is the presence of the wall on the left border of the image. It creates a rather strange feeling, even though it is rather dark (maybe that is the cause - it melts with the foliage but doesn't belong in it visually). I'd try to lose it. All in all, a good one :-)

  2. The colors have been washed out / desaturated a bit, I tried to

maintain the idea of an oldish image that goes well with the "aviator

like" jacket of the model. Just wanted to ask how you feel about the

heavy red and that desaturated combination. Thanks!

    The White Whale

          2

Not really noticeable but the long exposure (about 30 seconds) caused

the fisherman to be recorded twice: once for the main position and the

second one is kind of ghostly apparition just behind. Let me know how

you feel about that "mistake". Thanks for your time!

    Light Up!

          1

It was a rather warm spring day, and aside from the usual posing, the

lady felt quite drawn to the warmth of the early spring sun. I hope

the feeling conveys nicely :-) Let me know what you think!

    Thanks for your time.

Another LF portrait attempt. Wonder what you think about the cropping

(from 4x5" original) and rather unusual eyes! Thanks for your comments

and time taken to view this image.

    Vintage

    Thanks for the comments guys!

As for sepia, it actually is a bit toned, just enough to "kill" the hard black and white.

I guess it is not too obvious...

And yes, I feel both of you are right, the vintage feeling is not really present that much in the aesthetics point of view - I guess I just wanted to pose it "vintage" style.

    Thanks again!

    Darkness Falls...

In spite of the gloomy theme, this makes me smile :-) You demonstrate a very clever way of emphasizing what is really important. I guess that the white part of the sky plays nicely as "heaven" against the dark stone. Even the cross is somewhat lost in a tree - again life! At first I thought that the large scull was a bit too dark, but I guess you have managed to diminish it's size importance by letting it go dark. A nice work, a beautiful demonstration in control. Thanks!

Well, not much to be said. All the details and voluminousness (is that the right attribute) is just what the mountain is. I wish I could be inside your head :-) Great work.

I guess that the first thing I'd think upon entering here would be "What the hell!" and then "I think sex was nowhere near so violent the last time!!!" :-))) Anyway, this crowding of thing and body parts (legs, but shoes also!!!) is just the right way to go, and you've managed to preserve a bit of humor in it. And that is great! :-) I'd probably leave the red shoes B&W and darken the whole image, but that is just my 5 cents. Great idea! P.S. It also relates very nicely to the mess we all have in our heads regarding sex. Cool!

Well, not much to be said. Great balance and tone! The cloud makes it very interesting and it's center position gives an odd feeling of calm while still preserving that dynamic (it not in the dead center). I wonder how it would look in more narrow vertical crop... Great work!

    Book

Well, I'd rather put this in fine art section, but the rules are rules

    :-)

Anyway, my idea was that a portrait should show a bit more (soul

sounded too pretentious) and this collage was an experiment in that

direction - with the "Read me" subtitle... Feel free to post another

interpretation - I'd like to know what comes to mind of the beholder

upon seeing this one :-) Thanks!

Aaah, great MF work! I try to catch that sense in my work but somehow I fail to see it. Congratulations on a great job! And I like the rough feeling you get with the scratch/tear and the crazy looking bottom of the image. As already mentioned, great skin tones.

It took some time to figure out why this image has a sort of disturbing / uneasy feeling about it. Besides the obvious lines, in the end it is the sea level in background that gives me that thwarted look and I like it :-) Don't know if it is something you've done on purpose but it is effective. Great work!

Yes, the border is a bit distracting. And so is the upper left corner with that something blue coming out f it - I think it wouldn't be hard to lose it. And at first look there was something odd about this image and I think it is the almost but no quite so square proportions. I still can't decide weather it is better off like this or not, but I kind of lean to the square because of the descending space on the right - it just feels missing in this proportion, I think square would have brought it nicely together... Well, otherwise I like to color of things and I think you're dead on the spot with the brightness. I like it and hope you don't mind my 5 cents worth of opinion :-)

    I Love You ...

Well, the dynamic of two persons (poster and the girl) is nice, a rather odd view but carries it's weight :-) I'd probably loose the concrete peace of staircase in the upper right corner, for me it does not play well with the rather empty bottom. I guess you saved it for the "I love you" to be visible so it's a tough decision. Nice work!

    Hot ride

A rather graphic presentation of hot air balloon ride (hence the

title). Just wanted to know how you feel about the shadowy peace of

hedge in the lower part of the image... Thanks for comments!

Very nice use of grainy/old image effect.

the clouds and the sea are almost the same color and there is not so much tonality in the image at all which reminds nicely to sepia toned old images. Great image :-)

A nice composition :-) I like the way you diminished the sky to emphasize the figures, a great help to the eye. I like it too without the smaller person in the back, but the title should then change to Solitude or something similar. Maybe the image could benefit from cropping the bottom a little more. That way, the landscape format would bring the main person a bit down and create a more diagonal relation between the two of them. I like it very much!

Well, the composition is great, light also and technically it is a great photo - a job well done! Unfortunately I don't "feel" it :-( Can't really put my finger on it, but maybe the expression of the face is a bit to indifferent to make it pop. Hope my 2 cents helps :-)

Like the expression. Would have liked to see a bit more life in those eyes, but maybe that would spoil the "pain" part. I find the lower right angle to bee a bit distracting and although it is a white shirt, maybe a bit of darkening like in the upper part of the image would bring the face more into focus - this setup kind of distracts the eye from it... Otherwise a great portrait :-)

A challenging situation with the sun almost into the lens! Expression, colors and crop is fine. I would like to see a bit more light in the man's face especially since the clouds are a bit too bright compared to it so they kind of compete (and that distracts from the subject). Nice job otherwise.
