If you need 2000 shots you might as well shoot video.
One 8 hour surfing comp can easily accumulate 13oo shots .Continuous high speed shooting and a good surf break can chew up 40 shots per wave with out a problem .Not all of them are keepers unfortunately .

hi Mehdi i have found that i get more focus problems when shooting surfing and have the focus mode selector switched to anything else other than spot focus. i think all the movement of the waves seems to confuse the camera .i have to be fairly accurate to get the focus point on target (easier said than done). With other types of shooting i can use any of the other modes without problems . As i only joined this site last night i havent uploaded any pics yet ,but will do soon

I use a Tamron 28-300 VR lens for most of my action / sports shots eg; surfing ,car, motorcycle racing and have found it to be great value for money. I like this lens so much it spends most of its time on my camera . It is easy to handle , good quality pics, can be used for a great variety of other types of shots,i think it would be ideal for what you are looking for. I just puchased a sigma 50-500 lens for the more distant surfing shots ,this lens is MASSIVE and it requires lots of sun light to get action shots even with a monopod.when researching the 50-500 i read somewhere that the 150-500 sigma has quailty problems , one hire company had a 45% repair rate. I hope this info helps

Thoughts about Sigma 150-500mm or 50-500mm lens for sports
