Buy the flagship, D7100......your 7000 will become the backup.

get a 7100 and don't look back.....you will love it!

If you can, exchange or return it, and buy a new one...my first D7000 (purchased new) had very similar problems...
the replacement is perfect! I am still learning the characteristics of D7000 autofocus. I also own a D90; my copy is flawless.

So, the question is....Do I upgrade from the D90 to the D7000?
I started with the D50, then D80, now D90....I am thinking the
better quicker AF, the 39 points, better sensor, high ISO
performance and the focus fine tuning will be a big help....
Anyone out there with D90/D7000 experience?
Any thoughts and recommendations?

and he has LOTS of experience to draw from
Personally, I have owned at least 5 Nikons over the last 20 years;
never had a build or quality problem with any of them...I have
found operator errors(my errors) to be my biggest problem....

I started with Nikon film cameras......have since owned and still own (2) D50's, a D80, a D90; and my
son presently owns a D7000......from my and my son's experience, I would highly recommend
the D7000.....unless you would rather wait for the D300/300s replacement...

I have both the SB-600 and SB-700....a simple solution for you would be to purchase an SB-700...
then you can slave one or both flashes.....I prefer to master the SB-700, then slave the SB-600;
although you will have to spend some money, you will then have 2 flashes in the CLS......

I think the idea of working for a "nice tip" is probably the best way to go......If your product is good,
they should acknowledge that......just keep in mind you are creating images for them....if the product
is good, then negotiate using those images in your portfolio....
