1. One line answer: what matters is only ever the sensor/film size you have behind the lens, not the lens. A 18mm lens will always be 18mm, wherever it's mounted. BUT a smaller sensor captures less of the image, so it's 'as if' you had a longer lens with a normal size sensor. Based on the fact that smaller sensors don't capture all the image, some lenses are designed to provide a smaller image (and so they can be lighter and cheaper). Canon went one step further and took full advantage of the smaller size in their design, which ended up making the lenses not compatible with normal bodies - seeing they wouldn't provide a full sensor image in those anyway, at least in wider angles.
 2. Wendy has a 300d, so no need to get a used EOS body. Maybe the best advice is to get a lens first and think about the body later on.
 3. Regarding the lens: I've heard the 18-135 isn't especially good. But I have no personal experience with it. If I were you, I'd look into the EF (not S) zooms before making a decision.
 4. To keep the terminology, the T5i is the 700d (the names take a capital D, but I find it less confusing to use a d). There is no no question that the 70d is worth every buck that it costs in excess of the 700d, but I can't tell if it will make a difference for that specific usage. It has a faster processor, but its main advantages vis a vis the 700d are the new live autofocus, which iiuc is only for video, and being more pro oriented (which won't be relevant for a lot of pros because it isn't FF).
 5.
If you were looking for film, I'd say a Fuji GA645Zi (or one of the other GA645* models), which is one I'd like to have.

 6.
Hi.
Like many, I'd like to have a small interchangeable-lens camera, but mostly for fun. I'm not interested in a replacement for larger gear, but rather something onto which I can fit lenses that I already have (mostly FD, EF, EF-S, it would be fun if I could attach Zenzanons too...) to take on the odd walk. So I'm really not looking for how this and that feature may be able to allow me to use a mirrorless camera as a primary equipment, but merely into what may make a 'toy' more versatile or convenient. Since there are a number of developments going on in this area (albeit Nikon and Canon at least seem to be in no hurry to churn new nodels), I thought there may be something in the used market that would be a good value for the kind of usage I intend. I haven't made a thorough investigation, but most of what I've seen seems to indicate that there isn't. So I thought of asking here if you know of any specific model that may fit my hobbyish needs at a small price, or if it's not yet the time for that. Thanks.
