1.
Yeah, I took another roll in shot on the same back, the lab screwed it up. Then tried to wriggle out of it. A few new people at the lab, I have been going there for three years and never had an issue until now.
Adrian, it is a Kodak lab here in South Australia.

Thanks for you help everyone.

 2.
So I went back to the lab and they told me if the film has nothing on it the edge markings won't show up either. I'm not sure whether to believe this or not as when I have processed my own films and processed a roll with only a few shots on it accidentally the edge markings show up.
Are they bullshitting me?
The 135w back is all winding on fine and loaded correctly according to some instructions I found online and as I said before the dark slide was out, the lens cap was off and the mirror is flipping up.

What am I doing wrong?

 3.
Jean,

I think you may be right, there was absolutely no edge markings on the film at all, I didn't think of that. It was a new person at the lab too. First roll in three years that I have had a problem with from that particular lab.

 4.
I just purchased a 135w back for my ETRS system. I put my very first roll through it today, however I'm not sure if I loaded it correctly or not. I shot a whole roll in one hit, so I had the darkslide out and the lens cap off. I was returned a completely blank film from the lab. The film was well expired vista 200 24+3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Drew

 5.
There will always be artists choosing different formats for one reason or the other. There is no need to ponder too heavily on whether video will take over from still photography. New forms do not overwrite they co-exist. People still paint even after the invention of the camera and people still play string instruments other than the guitar, jazz still survives after rock 'n' roll, two inch tape recorders are still used in recording studios. The proliferation of video as a format will produce many great artists as every form of art has.

 6.
I looked at B&H and the postage to Australia is rediculous considering the weight of a few rolls of film. I have found some on ebay from an Aus seller but may try all suggestions first before resorting to buying from someone when I should be able to do it all myself. Thanks everyone.

 7.
I have just purchased a Kodak 620 Folding Brownie and I have read so many differing opinions on what to do with the film for these cameras. Some say you can cut the 120 spools to fit into the camera and others say that you can respool the 120 onto the 620 spools. I'm not really sure where to start. Should I start and see if the 120 roll will fit into the camera, if not then should I try cutting the spool down or should I try and respool onto the 620 spool. What should be my first port of call?

 8.
I have UV filters on all three of the lenses I have and this is mainly because if I scratch a lens I simply cannot afford to replace it straight away. Also I am fairly rough with my dslr and lenses as I just put them in my backpack and jump on my mountain bike and away we go. It is pretty much just a financial thing for me and not a filtering thing.

 9.
Thanks very much Bob and Chris. I know it isn't the camera as negs I have had processed at camera shops have been clean, it is only since I have started processing them myself (last two weeks) that marks have been appearing. Thanks for the advice.

 10.
I have recently begun processing my own films and somehow I keep managing to mark them. I'm not sure at what stage I am doing this though. My fingers aren't yet overly nimble at rolling the film onto the spool so it takes me one or two attempts to get the negative onto the bearings so the spool will then roll. Also I'm not sure about what sort of pressure to apply when squeegying the negatives. The image below is one that I have made a print of and you will see a line through the middle of it which is incredibly straight so I would like to know what may I be doing wrong. So far I have used microphen and rodinal developers.

The below image is a scan of a print I made yesterday. It was on Adox CMS20 and processed in microphen.
