I like the image a lot, but could I suggest that you take a look at cropping it enough to eliminate the branch at the top center that loops down from the edge? The image has some sweet lines working for it, and that one branch distracts from them, especially the shaft of light that arguably is the most important element of the image.

I think you've got to lose the little bit of branch in the upper right hand corner. Cropping the right would take out the bright stick in the lower right hand side as well, and you could crop the bottom enough to get rid of the stick there, which would also improve the proportions of the photo by cutting down the extended run the stream takes in the lower part of the photo.

 

Good job with a difficult subject. Catch light in the eyes is good, nice detail in the white parts of Doc's coat, attentive pose.

 

You need to crop the top at grass's edge, and it would have been nice to have more room on the right.
