Great portfolio and great shot. You got a great eye Charo. There's something about these "passing by" shots that I find really interesting. I have a couple of galleries dedicated to the "genre" on my site:
-
One of many excellent photos in the portfoliio, my only gripe is that it is too dark (IMO). Even for a "dark" motif.
-
This shot grows on you, like something out of Life magazine. Great job.
-
Love the mood and the trainspotting-esque lighting and composition.
-
It's a black and yellow agriope. I got one also living outside my door. Their bite is no worse than a bee's but they look scary as hell.
-
Matt is right. Clean, simple, but very aesthetically pleasing.
-
Thanks Anna and John. In case anybody is wondering, the upper 1/3 of the picture is the sky. On that day, it seemed to blend right into the sea.
-
Taken at Grand Canyon's South rim.

Thanks for all the comments, it makes getting wet in 30 degree weather and waiting 45 minutes for the ducks to stop disturbing the water all worth it.
-
This is a smart photo but I think I'm going to have to put my comment under the "less deserving POW selected from a good portfolio" category. Actually a spectacular portfolio.

This photo was adjusted to be displayed on my website which has a darker
background so it looks a bit too dark here with the white page overwhelming the
picture. Also, the subtleties in the shadow region don't compress well so the
resizing that Photo.net uses seem to really reduce the shadow detail to my eye. If anybody is interested,
you can see a better version of it here.

Thanks Thomas. That's the waterfall you see in the back. This is a really interesting place, hard to describe. Down at the bottom, it's a valley of huge boulders with green vegetation all over. It felt like something out of Jurassic Park. You can see zoomed out version of it from this picture on my website:
-
Pueblo Fantasmo is ghost town that surrounds the hills near Real de Catorce. There are old silver mining towns all over Mexico which were abandoned after the price of silver plummeted but this is probably one most untouched and interesting.

Must be that Windows XP

I really like this shot. Kind of a Magnum-esque portrait. The tilt and blurred background lines/shadows give it a dynamic feel although the rest of the photo is static. Very well executed.
-
I really love this shot. It does a great job of evoking a sense of atmosphere and place, for me anyways. This is one of my favorite pics here, thanks.

Your photos are great Wee, I think photo.net is tallying your points wrong though, you should be much higher in the standings. Keep up the good work!

Those are actually smoke signals. From what I can make out, it says: "Tanto hungry. stop. only 3 eclairs left. stop. send food. stop."
Excellent portfolio BTW.
-
Excellent photo. You have a top notch portfolio. This shot has a nice "Blade Runner" aura to it:)
-
I like this shot, very effective. I would crop out some of the bottom though since the blackness is dead space that detracts from the great scenery above though.

I am in complete awe!

I gotta say this is my favorite photo on photo.net. It's classic, everything from the gestures, to the minute subtle details like the canterbury arcade banner that seems to frame the shot. I think it should be scored higher, there's not enough appreciation here for street/people photography.
-
Kiet's got one of the best portfolios here but I have to say I think this shot is just mediocre.
-
muito bem!

When I'm lazy though, simple contrast masks (one to brighten the foreground, one to darken the skies, expose in between) using adjustment layers does wonders also though.
