absolutely great, the circular tension moving from the hand, through the veil, reinforcing the shape of her face, cutting across the eye and then back through the face.  finally the enigmatic expression.  even the Kodak border works well

the hair, the eyes, the freckles, the shallow focus, the strong contrast, but her intensity, what can I say, same as everyone else, great! oh did I mention the highlight in her eyes!

love the tension in this picture.  from the hand through the stick to its upper center, reinforced by the circular background, but at the top of stick as the center of focus, away from that focus to the woman's eyes and hair

love this one.  Hey no top background.  But of course what makes it is the 'mystical' gesture directed at the light, the hidden face.

dramatic, and the hidden face makes it almost Japanese.  Here the upper background works in its favor by drawing the eye down to the subject

much more convincing as death.  But perhaps a tighter crop with reduced upper background (a third the way into the couch for example)

I have to cast my vote with Bert, the color version is superior.  In the B&W the composition might well have been accented with stronger contrast and perhaps blending with the threshold filter.

I agree with Rachel this is the best of the three.  Work with filters and enhanced contrast might contribute to the image.
