1.
Dear Fellow Nikonians,
My contribution, this week, is an humble hommage to the brave and hardworking people of Japan, namely to the 1200 people who worked at the Sendai Nikon factory, and to their amazing capacity of recovering after natural or human induced great catastrophes, like the most recent one. This photo shows the Golden Hall of the Kinkaju-ji temple complex. The Golden Phoenix on the top symbolizes the revival of life from the ashes.
Have a good photo week !

 2.
Hello Fellow Nikonians.
I am still testing my new D7000, and this week I share with you a picture of the Belém Marina, Lisbon, Portugal, which can be printed in A2. The original version is very much detailed. I hope you enjoy it. Have a good photo week !

00YEaN-333345584.thumb.jpg.27d2266658e3c892a856a57b047149d8.jpg

 3.
I have just bought a D7000, to substitute my ageing 2006 D80, that only works well in... Automatic settings ! I was expecting to be able to produce up to A2 quality prints for exhibitions with the more powerful 16Mpix Cmos, as well as grainless night photos, with the much wider ISO range. If the second aim was clearly achieved ( I also very much appreciate the cadence of 6 images/second, for occasional sports or action photos), for the moment I feel a bit frustrated with the neutral of the lack of punch of the rather correct but a bit dull JPEGs. I normally shoot in RAW, but of the programmes I normaly use only DxO Pro 6 has already updated the software to the couple D7000+18-200, and it takes about 6 minutes (!) to process a single picture ! In fact, neither Capture Nx2, nor, less strangely, Apple iPhoto, are already prepared to read and process D7000 RAW files, what seems rather strange, after almost six months from the launching ! It remains the possibility of tuning a bit the native JPEGs. Has anyone of you, more experienced Nikon digital photographers, any tested recipe for doing it ? It might be useful for other recent D7000 owners, while we wait that Nikon finally wakes up, and updates Capture NX2, to read their own RAW files, or gives a little punch to the D7000 firmware.

 4.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians !
This week I have spent my spare time testing the limits of my brand new Nikon D7000, and I am amazed with its perfomance, specially for grainless night shots, and for sports. The photo I share with you this week was taken at the riverine Belém area, in Lisbon, where this beautiful fortress was built in the 16th century, to protect the mouth of the river Tagus. I hope you enjoy it. Have a good photo week !

00YBZq-330253584.jpg.14c5c931235e5f3eee717c6f77353e6d.jpg

 5.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians,
I have just bought a Nikon D7000, to substitute my 4 and 1/2 years old D80, that is becoming a bit old and rather erratic, and so I want to share one of my first trial pictures with you. I must confess that I appreciate very much the considerable improovements made in this category of Nikon cameras, namely the video capacity, the sophisticated and precise autofocus, the 6 fps speed, etc., but the JPEGs are a bit disapointing ( too pale, with little contrast, and slightly overexposed ), what prevents their direct use. I do hope Nikon will correct this via firmware update, in a near future. In the meantime I share with you a picture of the 12th century Old Lisbon Cathedral, overlooking the Tagus river. I hope you enjoy it.
Have a good photoweek...

00Y99B-327947584.jpg.9e8d6b503b1c9bd20d5b6511c36c7c5c.jpg

 6.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians,
This week I have specially enjoyed MAT LAUR's horsemen in the snow, JENNIFER MEIGHAN's snowscape, TIM HULTE's walk on ice, and, to change of rather freezing subjects, JEANNEAN BUGLADY's drops of water, PAULA WANG Ruins of Pompey, and APURVA MADIA's Floting Market.
My own contribution is a picture taken yesterday at one of Lisbon's city oldest barbershops, established 150 years ago. I hope you enjoy it !
7.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians !

This week I was specially impressed by Greg Kowalczwski's Dragonflies, Shun Cheung's Humming Bird, Jeannean's Dandelion, and Frank Allen's Alpaca.
My modest contribution was taken this evening, at Lisbon Downtown, one of my favourite subjects. I hope you enjoy it, and visit this Portuguese old town, someday.
8.
Fellow Nikonians,
As Matt Laur mentions, in the Winter solstice there is not much time for daylight photo, even in the Southernmost countries of Europe. In the Carmo Museum, in Lisbon, we have to light up at about 5pm, but the ruins of the old church, destroyed by the Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755, that houses the oldest portuguese Museum gain a very special atmosphere.

00Xtto-313865584.jpg.902b7e7c561007c0b1e882893b25bceb.jpg

 9.
Hello Fellow Nikonians !
Today I crossed the river Tagus to have lunch at a lovely fish restaurant at Trafaria, in front of Lisboa. Fish was very fresh, as usual, and the weather was fine, at 10 celsius, and as sunny as you can see. As most of you are already freezing and confined to indoor photos, I have decided to send you a warming picture. I hope you enjoy it !

00XrQQ-311625584.jpg.9795f6b8d81f63cfc60b53942d76748c.jpg

 10.
Dear Nikonians,
This Wednesday I was very busy, taking photos of Miguel Bombarda Psychiatric Hospital, built in Lisbon in 1896, that is being closed. Here is a picture of the high security section.
Have a good photo week !

00XpAJ-309751684.thumb.jpg.e088fb67aa2fc8bf74d378ac1b562e08.jpg

 11.
Fellow Nikonians,
My pic, this week, is a pink rose, dedicated to the few women photographers of this forum, to stimulate their participation. It was taken in a very rainy day, at the garden of the Casa da Insua, a beatifull manor house at Penalva do Castelo, Viseu, Portugal, adapted for tourism. I hope you enjoy it.
Have a good photo week !

00XmMT-307441684.thumb.jpg.5753cfba1ac7cf54c3e231e76b9f9613.jpg

 12.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians ! Last Sunday I went for a walk to the coast of Lisbon, near Cascais, to a place called "Boca do Inferno" (Hell's Mouth) and took a picture of these amateur fishermen with both my digital and analogic Nikons. Here is the digital version. The analogic version, in b&w, may be next week.
Have a good photo week !

 13.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians !
This week I share with you a picture of my recent trip to the Douro valley, in Portugal, , where the famous Port Wine is made. I enjoyed very much the autumnal colours of the different varieties of vineyards. I hope you too.
Have a good photo week !

00Xc2q-297673584.thumb.jpg.941e43b944ff181ba7ca16b1aba13227.jpg

 14.
After a short holyday in Turkey, I share with you this picture of Capadocia, taken on a baloon ride. It is not as sharp as I would like, but I think the soft light of a cloudy morning is very pleasant. I hope you enjoy it as well.

00XO1q-285397584.jpg.68d9d47610f0c770386055b8ed34f665.jpg

 15.
Hello, Fellow Nikonians,
My contribution this week is a picture taken last weekend at Guimaraes, a lovely town where Portugal was born, in 1128 AD ! I hope you enjoy it and visit Guimaraes, recently designated as next Cultural Capital of Europe.

00X0SG-266299684.jpg.bd0aaca3b3ed5fab0d0ca93bc5c927cb.jpg

 16.
Dear Fellow Nikonians,
Excellent pictures as usual ! It is a bit late, but here is my pic, taken in a recent trip to Japan. The Old Imperial town of Nara was once upon a time a magnificent town, but still preserves one of the most impressive Budist temples of Japan, the Todai-ji, that houses a 16m high bronze statue of Buda.

00Wp3N-257999684.jpg.6a385ec305f332237595964cf1aa3bda.jpg

 17.
Hello, Nikonians,
This week I have specially enjoyed for their originality and technical quality:
Jennifer's lovely "Bean"
Wayne's flag seller
Uzay's rainbow
Jeannean's hover fly and
John Kent Hill's "after the storm
This week, with the arrival of the Summer, the Jacaranda's have blossomed, all over Lisbon. This was taken at the Carmo Ruins, in Lisbon.
Have a good photo week !

00WjHq-253907784.thumb.jpg.29e69cf60d0b4a1d83392880cb10559e.jpg

 18.
Dear Nikonians,
It is a bit risky to palce my pic after Matt's excellent portrait, Jeff Lipsman's colourful vegetables, Bill Boyd's Black Heron, Tiffany's beautiful model in a romantic atmosphere, Jen's bird and bug, Tony Hadley's extraordinary sky and reflection, Mark Gordon's "Soccer fan", or Aguinaldo de Paula's Rainbow, but as this is not a photo contest, but a mere pleasure of sharing images, here it goes...

00WgL4-252291684.jpg.3c8d0c2eacf1db6a2cf347ab1e49f485.jpg
