1.
Great thanks the c330 came with the 80mm 2.8 'S' according to the link Tom posted.
I don't see any difference in the specs between the 80mm 2.8 & the 80mm 2.8 'S'
The only difference I see is that the markings are in different places. Is one better than the other?

  2.
I just picked up a mamiya c330 it came with a black 80mm lens but it has different markings on it than my other black 80mm lens. I was wondering if there is a reference guide to all the different lens and versions of each lens for the mamiya c220 and c330? I am trying to figure out if one is better than the other.
Thanks

  3.
I am just learning lightroom and have got the scott kelby book that is very useful. There is one main thing that I can't figure out and can' seem to find it in the book. I am used to working with photoshop and saving the photo when your done working on it or just done for the time being. In lightroom there is no save under the file menu. I usually save one copy with my layers and a copy that I have flattened and finished. I realize that lightroom is automatically saving my work but when I'm done do I just exit out of the photo and call it a day or is there a step I am leaving out ?

Just to clarify: You're always (I think) using a shooting bank, although you might not have changed any of its settings from the default; there's only the question of which one.

Thats exactly what I was wondering I knowyou are always shooting from a type of bank because it is either default settings or something you changed but the menu bank and custom bank options at the bottom of the rear screen are only used when selected right?Unless selected you are just using the settings you have changed in the camera (Camera's shooting bank)??

  5.
Wow, thanks.
I am starting to understand it now. Is the difference very noticeable?I guess if I am doing it for my
non techy friends they probably won't notice the difference anyways....right?
As for the shooting banks, I have to go in the menu and select them right? I
and when they are selected is there something that lets me know I am using them?

  6.
About the shooting banks:
Thats what I was thinking it would be useful for was just saving some presets that I like and tend to use often, maybe save me a minute having it pre set.
About the Adobe RGB and The srgb :
Thanks for the great explanation first of all. If I shoot in adobe rgb and am set up to have the camera save a raw image and a jpeg can't I just use the jpeg to send a non techy friend or after I have edited the image just save as a Jpeg file in photoshop and use that to send? Or does it make it difficult to open even after it is saved as a Jpeg?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge

  7.
Thanks again, I love hearing your opinions.
So what is the major difference between srgb and adobe rgb?
am confused when you you (andrew) talk about having top switch back to srgb when saving a portable jpeg?

  8.
Great thanks for the help!
So how do I use the presets of my menu banks? switch to program mode?
I have never used the NX2 , is there an advantage to using it since it is a nikon product?
I figure since I am already familiar with adobe I should just stay with that.

Ok so I have been able to shoot a few Photos with the camera. I have been reading through the manual and have a few questions on your opinions. Here I go: oh and the most outta my images With the settings even though I might not know what to do with them....... - I have lightroom and Photoshop, is it still nessacary to download the nikon software? - since I am using adobe should I use adobe rgb? Or srgb? - is active D lighting worth using? I tried it with not much of a result. - is what is in my shooting menu bank what I am currently shooting? - is custom menu bank what I am curently shooting with? Or do I have to set it to one or the other? -does it make a difference shooting with 14 bit raw or 12 bit raw?
Ok so that's the questions Ive ran into so far, I know alot of them are probably personal Preference but I guess that's what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

  11. Ok, so I have played with the camera a bit now.

    I LOVE IT!!

I understand the basics manual mode mostly.

Want to learn some of the advance features that

    I have now that I

Shooting digital and with such an incredible machine.

Started to read thru the manual and I will finish

But I am definitely going to get another book on the d700

Because the manual is kinda confusing and hard to understand

Certain things. Plus I'm not the best at reading technical info. I looked

At all the options and will definitely take the advice.

I'll let you know what I go with for a book and also

Start posting some photos to be critiqued.

    Thanks alot

  12.
WOW
So many options, I have heard alot of good things about The Thom Hogan book.
Are there many differences of the different materials covered in the books?
I am sure any of them would be more than useful to me. I would like something that is
easily understood.
Thanks for all this help

  13.
Are you a beginner? If so thoroghly read the owners manual over before you buy anything.

I already bought the D700 and believe me I researched the heck out of it. I have been researching for the past 6 months and I have also shot with my friends quite a bit.

  14.
Well I want a book specifically about the d700. My level of Photograhy hmmmm.
Well I have never owned a DSLR this is my first , but I have owned and shot with many film cameras. I have always shot nikon and was mainly shooting with the Nikon f4 and the f3 for the past 5 years or so. I also have a Mamiya C220 that I will always have and shoot with.
So I would say my skill level is beginner and maybe crossing over into the intermediate level. I got the d700 because I loved my friends that I have used a few times and I wanted to keep the full frame since I already have a few good lens.
I do understand the basics of a DSLR but I know there is so much that I can't wait to learn. So mainly I want a book that will explain the advantages and features of the D700

  15.
So I just got the d700 and want to get one of the books
put out for it. Any ideas on which one I should get? I know there are many choices
but I have no idea what to get.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

  16.
I have never processed my own film but am going to give it a try this afternoon.
I am hoping for a bit of advice. I am going to process NeoPan400 film but am using the Kodak D76 developer, I have th kodak Hypo cleaning agent and the kodak fixer .
My main question is that I haven't found anything that tells the process of processing neopan400 with the kodak d76 developer. Anyone have any advice? Next anyone have any general advice on what my process should be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

  17.
Wow!! Thanks for all the info, I am really enjoying and learning alot from you all.
As for noise I do not like noise but I do love grain in film with certain photos.
To be honest I still plan on shooting film alot , I really like the pressure of having to put alot
of thought into how to make the photo come out the way I want. I guess I just know alot
of people with digital cameras that just keep shooting until they get a photo they like.
It will although help me learn alot quicker being able to see instant results.
I think I have decided against the d90 because I would really like to be able to use my
old lens. I just have to decide if I can afford a D300 or a D300s , I know of a guy with a d200 for sale for 590$ with 20,000 shutter accusations, but not sure if I want to go for that.
I am very indecisive especially when it comes to big purchases. I am going to keep giving it more thought.
Keep the info coming. Does the d300s have pretty good video? is it comparable to the d90?
