1.
Agreed 100% with Bob.
It's because the sun is so bright it overpowered any light your "mono" light put out so your other two (running of of optical slaves) couldn't see when to fire.
Optical slaves suck anytime but won't work outdoors very well at all.

You can do tricks like shade the slaves so the sun doesn't hit them etc.
But you just really need to get radio triggers on them.

 2.
I wouldn't want to be the one to try it... I know we use lower voltage on digital now and you can easily fry a flash etc. so I think the chances of killing your 602 is good.
Apart from that I'm not sure if the contacts are the same?

I've got 4 603's (basically the same) and LOVE them!
I had PocketWizards for over a year and these are just as good (for me using them with speedlights).

 3.
They look fine to me... Of coarse it's impossible for me to tell if they look how you mean for them to.
I use 1920x1080 monitors.
I've got a few tips/questions.

1: Are you saving in sRGB colour space?
2: You're using FancyBox plug-in to display images. I've not found anyone else having this issue with that plug-in.
3: Are you sure this plug-in re-sizes to fit screen? I'd be a little surprised.

 4.
I take it you don't have any lights yet?
Brand doesn't matter too much... Just get something built good.

I use Lowel Tota's, Omni's & spots.

It sounds like, to me, to get the lighting you're after you'll need at least one good large softbox & 2 large reflectors (or v-flat) plus 2 more lights with beauty dishes (with sock) or softboxes.
My guess is you'll need to buy used for the kind of money you're ready to spend.

The video you linked said they used 3 lights & 1 reflector...
1: Main light high over camera (my guess about 9' off floor) with softbox.
2: Reflector below (most likely propped at an angle) for fill under chin & in eye sockets.
3: Fill light stage right with socked beauty dish (might as well of been a softbox.
4: Fill light stage left with socked beauty dish (might as well of been a softbox.

Alternatively you could look at some of the really cool defused LED lights they have now...
Some work really well!

 5.
Lorraine,

1: "What then, would be an appropriate, or at least a minimum amount to charge a small publisher? A: Most editorial clients will have a price sheet they work off of and will tell you what they pay for images. These prices are typically their set price & you can take it or leave it... every now & then they can be negotiated up but not often.

2: You should be paid. If the writer does it free that's their problem, don't make it your problem as well. Mark is spot on with his remarks... Photo credit is 100% worthless (very, VERY rarely is this not true). If you need us to offer a price range we'll need to know more details as in; a: Will they only use in print or web also b: What's their print run etc.

Lastly don't sign any contract without reading very carefully. Don't give away your copyright & don't give away the farm for next to nothing. If they will let you provide them with your contract make sure it's fare for both parties. And for the love of God don't provide any images without delivery invoices & don't move into any agreement without a contract.

 6.
I don't see the issue here at all. I get that you don't like the 3rd shooter had cards when you asked them not to bring them.

I do however think it is overstepping on your part to ask the 3rd shooter to ignore friend requests on FB. Also how do you want them to handle being asked point blank to receive a review online?

You have to remember this 3rd shooter is part of YOUR company as far as the wedding party is concerned. If they are rude in any way then you are rude in the public's eyes. I know you know the Indian culture is a very giving culture & if you refuse gifts they are insulted.

That's my take on it. Move on and have contracts all the way around next time. Give the 2nd & 3rd shooters your cards to hand out and tell everyone (EVERYONE) they work for you. No one needs to know they are contractors.

 7.
This sounds to me like the issue really isn't your shooting.
I looked your site over and your work is good, really good in fact.
Your site layout kinda sucks but that's another topic.

I think one of two things is going on here.
1: Is it possible your have any kind of condition? i.e. depression or medical condition? Your story of being this way since a kid and bathroom story make me think this.
2: OR maybe you've just grown stagnant in your craft? I would need more info about how long you've been doing this, how many jobs have you had the past 2 years & how many are booked for next, full time photo job etc. But I'd also suggest you go to some workshops... Jeremy Cowart is kicking off his LifeFinder tour in 2 days & it's not most workshops. It'll be focused on creativity and doing good with your photography. He's also the man who started http://www.Help-Portrait.com (also something to get involved in if you aren't already). Sadly the LifeFinder tour isn't coming near you but here's the link if your interested. http://jeremycowart.com/2011/11/lifefinder-tour/

That's what seems to be the issue to me. You're not gonna take pics like what is on your site and then start sucking all of a sudden. I think the issue is something else...

 8.
If it's worth it to you to work on a deal with him;
It maybe that he will settle for less than "unlimited usage rights for 1 year"... Perhaps he only wants to use them on his website?
In which case maybe you are willing to offer the photos for less?

Either way I don't try to compete with 'criagslist' photogs (not puttin' anyone down).
It's not worth it to me.
I'll work on building relationships instead of wasting a bunch of time trying to make $200.

That's my 2...

 9.
If this post comes up on the first page for blah d blah then it has done the opposite of building any reputation for the poster.
When potential clients of Blah D Blah see this post it will make the company look lame.
(I don't think it's lame to ask photog thoughts on your design, but your clients most likely will)

Also if he was trying to build link juice that's very hard to do with the nofollow. (having this post come up only hurts him ^see above^)
Just my 2 cents.
Crucify him if you will but I think he's already caused enough damage to himself.

 10.
It does not seem to be out of business... Did you call them and find this out?
You can add items to your cart etc.

It says they were bought out by another company on May 2 2011, but still fill orders.
I have no suggestions as I've never had any printed anywhere.

 11.
I'll add this because it jumps out at me...
Never get so busy that you neglect marketing, advertising or your customers.
You may look at hiring a shooter, personal assistant and raising your prices.

I don't run your business so I can't say for sure but I do know at least one of those changes, if not all of them, make good sense.

 12.
I have had my site up for about 4 months.
http://MicahGRobinson.com

I designed it myself and have been told tonight it looks like $$%# & I should get a Pro Phototheme or StudioPress theme instead.
They said I need a portfolio theme (i.e. pretty much theme-less).
They want me to have something akin to this http://autochrome.brajeshwar.com/

I was told this by a group of 10 web developers.

Do you agree? Thoughts?

 13.

Just curious... How is one going to lose (note: "loose" is the wrong word) their reputation by heading to a mission field?

Lose your reputation as a missionary by suing someone AND having them talk terrible things behind your back.
Karen said this photographer is her "friend" and therefore she more then likely knows most of the same locals... Missionaries typically require a big at home support system and also are not home to defend themselves.
They become easy targets.

Hope this helps to clear things up.

 14.
One more thing to consider before contacting a lawyer: Being that you & your husband are about to head to the "mission field", you stand to loose your reputation as much as this photographer does.
I would advise to make sure you have exhausted trying to work it out with this photographer before you go that route.

Maybe leave a message that says "I will contact a lawyer if need be but I don't want it to come to that. I am just wanting to SIT DOWN and talk about what I thought I was paying for and what YOU thought I was paying for... So we can come to a understanding. Because right now both of us feel cheated and confused."

P.S. I would back off the black & white VS. colour. In fact I would never bring it up again. The fact is, as stated by others, you will not want those in colour. They look like $$%$ in colour, I'm 99.99% sure of that. That is unless you take it to court, then bring it up if your lawyer says.
