I want to thank everybody and especially to David Stephens for encouraging me for using digital software for postprocess my shootings.
Since last 2 weeks I spent some time on Lightroom. Now I have much more better results. For me this is a new start to my photography knowledge.

I need to spend some time also on Photoshop... of course after completing LR lessons.

-

Thank you David and everybody for precious advices.
I know my minus is not spending time on software.
I will start soon. Sure it will add more on my pictures...

Thank you so much for contributions... especially some very precious advices which I am totally agree.
Yes, switching between brands and systems is a foolish act especially after 12 lenses. They are not all EF. Some Sigma, Tamron, Zeiss, etc.

I need to improve my digital retouch/post processing skills...

And need to read more... Recently I learned that I need to switch off Auto WB when using CPL filter... Results were awful with a color combo filter with auto WB ON ! :(

Sony A7R II score is 98 ... Canons scores are really low...

Always had/used Nikon film cameras. After 5DII was on market with a high MP than most Nikons, switched to Canon.
Shooting landscape, kids, cities, travel.. Sold 5D II some time ago and switched to 6D for better AF. Now I realised 5D II was better camera than 6D especially on color depth. Now has some real investment on the lenses and waiting for 5d IV. Hope it will be much better camera on some ways.
Checked the camera reviews on Dxo which is told a trustable site about reviews (hope it is ok to talk about another review site), and saw ratings of most Nikon cameras are much higher than Canons. Really shocked.

For example when 5d III s overall rating is 81, Nikon D 750 has 93
EOS 5 D S has 87 but D 810 has 97
and EOS 6 D has only 82 ...

When I look at this result, I am a looser by giving up Nikon bodies.

If I decide to go back to Nikon system I need to sell 12 lenses...
When I take picture with 6 D I dont find the picture so satisfying, especially color depths and overall feelings...

Of course this is a Canon forum and I am a sinner by saying this ... But that's my feelings...

Merhaba
For birding purpose I think 7d mii + 400 f5,6 + 1,4 tc would be better decisionç 400 mm f 5.6 ahould be cheaper than 100-400 II. And f stop better and sharper. If you have enough money you can go for 100-400 II.

I have 100-400 II and 1.4 tc. Bought it not for birding but general purpose.

I bought Tamron 150-600 mm two months ago. Stayed 10 days with me. Sold it bag for 200 usd cheaper after made some test shots.

@ David: Yes I am after the ultimate. The reason I decided for Samyang/Rokinon is, I am not sure if I will use this lens too often. So investing to Ef 14mm is useless.
Indeed I like primes more.

@ Matthijs : 100/2/8 is a macro but also a portrait and general use lens. It is the lens I like and use most. Already have one. Thx.

-

When I compare price vs quality vs distortion Samyang/Rokinon looks better decision. Because I will use it only for astrophotography...
Investing so much money for a lens which I will use only several days/times a year doesn't look logic.

So I've ordered a Samyang/Rokinon.
Thank you all for your inputs...

-

I would recommend :
1. Sigma 20mm f/1.4
2. Canon 11-24 mm f/4

-

A used 14mm II is around 1450 - 1500 not 1200. 1200 is the former version I.

-

I will not buy a cheap lens which I will complain later about the quality or softness. I didn't go for Rokinon/Samyang but Tamron can be ok quality. Used Canon 14mm II around 1200 on ebay.
Just bought the 100-400mm II and 1.4 III so don't have budget for few months. May be I can buy one in the summer...
Don't know which will be better in this case though: 14mm rectilinear or 11-24mm f/4 ?
As I already have Tokina 16-28mm which I am happy, may be better to have a 14mm.

-

Thank you for contribution David.
I agree with rectilinear 14mm. How about a Samyang/Rokinon 14mm instead of Canon? Or Tamron rectilinear 14mm f/2.8.!

-

Thank you Robin and and David for your inputs.
That's right, it is not Tamron, it is Tokina, sorry for that mistake.
You both suggest 15mm fisheye. Considered Rokinon 14mm for astrophotography. Gave up for already having Tokina 16-28mm.
I shoot planes and I think 100-400mm II is enough for it. Don't think I need 500 or 600mm as I don't shoot birds. Infact I bought a Sigma 150-600mm but sold it cheaper after some test shoots. It is not a sharp lens and not so easy at handheld shooting.

Very funy Ed. You just play with my broken English... Anyway that's true the list doesn't mean "photography" and certainly not a "fun hobby". At lleast for me. Thx for contributing...

Leszek, I already have them ... ;)

What can be the ideal collection of lenses for general photography? Which we all will need for a general purpose like landscape, family, people, etc. Not a spesific need. Not talking about f number but the lens and zoom coverage.
My list is like this:
Primes:
25mm f/2 (Zeiss),
35mm f/1.4 (Sigma)
50mm f/1.4 (Sigma)
85mm f/1.8 (Canon)
100 mm f/2.8 (Canon)

Zooms:
16-28mm f/2.8 (Tamron)
24-70mm f/2.8 (Canon)
70-200 mm f/4 (Canon)
100-400 mm f/5.6-6.5 (Canon

Which lens would you like to have in addition of these lenses ? Sure some of you saying not SO NICE words though.
By the way the body I use is 6D

Happy shootings...

I need a zoom. Ef 100-400 II is expensive.
1.4x TC-III will give me 280 mm max, not much. I need more.
400 mm f/5.6 is not flexible at air shows and for approaching planes.
Confused...

-

Thank you all very much for precious contributions. Yes I need indeed a lens 200-500mm range.
EF 100-400mm II looks very expensive. Don't know really if it worth that money after selling Tamron to 670 $.
Reviews of 100-400 first verion is not so great. Or I can try to come closer to the subject with 70-200mm instead if I can ))

I shoot landscape, architecture and people. I bought Tamron 150-600mm to shoot aeroplanes and also general shooting.
I use Canon 6D. I have no problem with hand held shooting. I've taken these picture with monopod.

You will notice that lens is better below 500mm. Sharper when it is used 400mm and below. If I will not use this lens above 400mm why I need 150-600mm?

Here are the samples and exif data :

@ 400mm

100 % crop

EXIF DATA:
File Name IMG_0271.JPG
Camera Model Canon EOS 6D
Shooting Date/Time 10/31/2015 12:43:10 PM
Shooting Mode Program AE
Tv(Shutter Speed) 1/800
Av(Aperture Value) 10
Metering Mode Partial Metering
ISO Speed 640
Lens TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011
Focal Length 400.0mm
Image Size 5472x3648
Image Quality Fine
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode One-Shot AF
AF area select mode Manual selection
Picture Style Auto
Sharpness 3
Contrast 0
Saturation 0
Color tone 0
Color Space sRGB

@ 500mm

100 % crop

EXIF DATA :
File Name IMG_0278.JPG
Camera Model Canon EOS 6D
Shooting Date/Time 10/31/2015 12:49:10 PM
Tv(Shutter Speed) 1/400
Av(Aperture Value) 8.0
Metering Mode Center-Weighted Average Metering
Exposure Compensation 0
ISO Speed 800
Lens TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011
Focal Length 500.0mm
Image Quality Fine
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode One-Shot AF
AF area select mode Manual selection
Picture Style Auto
Sharpness 3
Contrast 0
Saturation 0
Color tone 0
Color Space sRGB

@ 600mm

100 % crop

EXIF DATA :
File Name IMG_0265.JPG
Camera Model Canon EOS 6D
Shooting Date/Time 10/31/2015 12:10:17 PM
Shooting Mode Program AE
Tv(Shutter Speed) 1/500
Av(Aperture Value) 9.0
Metering Mode Partial Metering
ISO Speed 640
Lens TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011
Focal Length 600.0mm
Image Quality Fine
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode One-Shot AF
AF area select mode Manual selection
Picture Style Auto
Sharpness 3
Contrast 0
Saturation 0
Color tone 0
Color Space sRGB

@ 600mm

100 % crop

EXIF DATA :
File Name IMG_0460.JPG
Camera Model Canon EOS 6D
Shooting Date/Time 11/9/2015 2:22:32 PM
Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE
Tv(Shutter Speed) 1/160
Av(Aperture Value) 7.1
Metering Mode Center-Weighted Average Metering
Exposure Compensation 0
ISO Speed 1600
Auto ISO Speed OFF
Lens TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011
Focal Length 600.0mm
Image Size 5472x3648
Crop/aspect ratio 3:2
Image Quality Fine
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode One-Shot AF
AF area select mode Manual selection
Picture Style Auto
Sharpness 3
Contrast 0
Saturation 0
Color tone 0
Color Space sRGB

In general view, when looking at the photos % 20-25 view, they are acceptable but when magnified to % 50 or more they are not sharp at all after 400mm.

Is EF 100-400 sharper?
Have a 6D together with some primes and zooms also has a 70-200 f/4 which I like. Need a longer reach zoom. Bought a Tamron 150-600mm but sold back after just 3-4 days.
Need a zoom like ef 200-400mm but it is VERY expensive which I can't afford.

Ef 100-400 seems logic but I have 24-70 f/2.8. If I buy 100-400II, I will no longer need 70-200. The gap between 24-70 to 100-400 is only 30 mm.

My question is is ef 100-400 II very good and sharp lens? It seems also expensive.

What would you recommend to me in that range? No need to be only Canoon zooms!

Thank you

I bought it on ebay second hand. If it is focus or softness issue no chance other than selling. I don't live in Usa to be coveredwith return warranty ! Thank you so much for helping...

@ Kerry Thanks for the contribution.
I made shots with ISO 1000 and 1/1000 sec. No way that I am shaken hand. May be an issue with focusing. Don't know how to correct it. Will make test in a bright day with a tripod again. I thinks @ 600 mm focusing and sharpness a bit poor...

-

I shot the lens with entire focal lengths especiallay 300mm,400mm, 500mm and 600mm with VC on, all with 800 or 1000 ISO, shutter speed 1/500, 800 and 1000 and aperture not less than 8.

All handheld shots were out of focus at % 100. All were blurred because of lens shaken. Tried with monopod and the shots around 300 mm was better but after 400 mm it was blurring again. I think I am shaking it also with monopod. Though sky was cloudy. Want to try it in a sunny day.

It seems it is not good choice for me as sharpness is very important for me...

@ DavidStephens: Which filter(s) did you use at this picture ?
