1.
Hello everybody!
I have my first Baseball tournament coming up this weekend and I will be selling and printing action photos on-site. This is my first time shooting Baseball and I was hopeing for some advise from anyone who has experience.
The Tournament is going to be played on 3 out of 4 fields that are all right next to each other. Games are from 8 am - 8pm Fri, Sat, and Sunday. My equipment is a Canon 40d with a 70-200 f2.8 IS. As of right now I only have access to one person to shoot for me who also has no baseball experience. I have a pretty big set up with 3- 10x10 tents, with 5 viewing stations, and a Sony Dye Sub.
My first question.
Is a 70-200 going to have enough reach to be able to get some decent shots on the fly?
Second question.
What are the best place(s) to shoot from to get the most amount of action?
Third question.
How many shooters would You suggest for a 3 field tournament? keep in mind im trying to keep overhead as down as possible because of the long hours.
Thank you for your help in advanced guys!

  2.
Hello fellow shooters,

I shoot youth sports, mostly Basketball. I always like to set a custom white balance before the game. Currently im using a grey card to achieve this. The primary lens that I shoot with is my 70-200 f2.8is (canon) but I find it is very hard to get the card to fill the whole frame with this lens and get a focus on it.

My 2 questions are-
If i set the white balance with a different lens that is easy to fill the frame with the grey card such as my 28-135 then switch back to my 70-200 will the change in optics effect the accurateness of the CWB?
And do you have to have a sharp focus on a grey card to achive an accurate WB?

Thanks for your help guys!

  3.
Hello David,

Your shots look great. I shoot a lot of youth basketball and I found that creating a custom white balance before the games produces much better pictures in poorly lit gyms. It helps w/ that strange yellow cast. BTW I shoot w/ the canon 40d w/ a 70-200 f2.8is and a 50 f1.4.

That is a good idea however this league is a 1,200 kid league with pore communication between the main office and the coaches.
Also the league has 4 different fields that games are played at. I have a hard enough time just trying to get the coaches to show up to get the picture taken.

Thank you for your response. Could I have a little more detail on how you do the shipping process and or the costs involved?
Would you just fill out and put a stamp on every order?
And did you get the USPS to provide you with shipping envelopes or did you get those from another supplier?
Also is this a pretty time consuming process when doing large leagues?
Is there any "tricks" that you have learned that makes the process less painful?
Again thank your for your help!

  6.
Hello everyone,
I currently shoot youth sport T&I here in Florida. I have been just giving the T&I photos organized by team to the league directly, to then get to the coach, who then hands the photos out to each kid at a game or practice. However the league has made it clear that they do not wish to do this that it takes to long to get the coaches to pick up the orders. And we are also having issues with parents not receiving their photos.
I am currently using ROES to process the orders and anyone that has used this in the past will know that you receive the orders the way you upload them.
I have read on other photographers websites that they ship the photos directly to the parents and I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience getting the photos to the customer this way. Also wile keeping in mind that the league I work with is very large ( about 1200 kids). What kid of cost is involved and is there company you recommend to use for shipping here in the USA.
I appreciate any insight on this issues and any things that you have done that have worked well for you.

Thank you !!
