<p >Thanks again to everybody for your help. Very much appreciated. I picked up the Nikon AF-S 60 f2.8 ED Micro for $590.00 & the Nikon 10-24mm f3.5/4.5 AF-S DX for $1000.00. Canadian. No it's time to try them out before I leave for the islands.</p>

<p >As a beginner I can see my progress over time. Plus when I get a good rating I know which direction I should take to improve my skills & try to improve low rating captures. It’s a great learning tool.</p>

<p >Thank Shun. I did look at the 10-24 this week end & it’s only $100.00 more. I’m glad you told me about it because I didn’t know if the lens produces the same quality pics. </p>

<p >I have 6 days to decide before my cruise. I think I might go with the Nikon AF-s 60 f2.8 EV Micro & the Nikon 12-24 f4 AF-S EU. The 60 f2.8 has dropped to $650. Canadian & the 12-24 is $985. I will talk to my camera guy on Monday & see what kind of deal he will give me on both. </p>

<p >Matt- It would use it for close ups more than anything. I use my 18-105 throughout its zoom. I shoot a lot of Roller Derby but I have to use my sb-900 flash. In the future I will have to look for a faster lens. I will post on that issue after my trip.</p>

I have a D90 with 2 lenses a Nikkor 18-105 f/3.3-5.6G ED VR & a Nikkor 70-300 f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR<strong >. I am looking at an </strong><strong >AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED Micro lens. I have been told that this is a very good lens but I don’t know anyone that has used it. This lens is suited for general imaging as well. Has anyone used this lens & how well does it work. The lens runs around $730. But if there is one that’s better for a couple hundred more I would consider it. Thanks for your help.</strong></p>

<p >I purchased my D90 late March this year. It came with an 18-105 f/3.3-5.6G ED VR & I added the 70-300 f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR. When I shot a roller derby game using the 18-105 the lighting was low & I had to use my SB-900 flash. The shots were good around 30 feet & less but anything farther the pics were under exposed & when I edited them on my laptop to brighten them up I received a lot of grain in the pics. Same thing happened when I shot a football game at night with my 70-300 lens. I had to use a slower shutter speed to allow more light in & not being that good at panning a lot of shots were blurry. If you are shooting in low light a lot I would got to a faster lens (Smaller f#). It all depends on how much money is available. Besides that I really enjoy the lenses. They are not that expensive & I find that they do a great job for beginners. Someone told me that you buy a decent camera but don’t cheep out on lenses. You may spend over double the price as a regular lens but you never have to replace it with a faster lens when needed. Unfortunately my budget wouldn’t allow me to purchase a faster lens. </p>
