1.
hi and thanks for your help.............Hi Nadine, yes sorry i think we did cover something simular a while ago.......i wanted also to get some other thoughts on this, as dick and mark both say to go for the 17-40 canon and you say not to consider it?.........this is my delema!........the lens would be for total use on the 5d for the group and general shots, as i mostly got my 70-200 2.8IS on the 5d.

thx again all

 4.
thx you for all your kind responses. yes the 50d aint good at high iso......but on the matter of a new lens i think im going to go with what Nadine suggested...the Tamron 28-75 2.8, ive read its quite a cheap build but good quaility photos and sharpness and being at 2.8, i should do me with the group shots also! so great...and the other best thing is that its not expensive either, so thank you Nadine once again.

 5.
Hi Nadine, its been a while , hope u had good xmas? anyway, all the question started off is that ive just bought my long waited 5d mark 2...........the gear i now own is the 5d mark 2 and a 50d......the lenses i own are a canon 70-200 2.8 IS , a canon 50mm 1.8, and a tamron 17-50 2.8.( for the 50d)........im shooting lots of weddings and normal portrait work.....but for the weddings i want a lens for the group photos ( money is a bit of an issue ) , i was told to get a canon 17-40 f4???? ive read mixed views on it, yet a wedding photographer i was talking to swears by it!........i know sigma do a 17-35 ...2.8 / 4.5 and i was offered that lense for £150? but dont know what to do really.....hope u can advise nadine.
many thx

 6.
thanks for all your comments, Matt, i know the tamron is for APS-C format but tamron has released a full frame version 17-50 VC 2.8......as ive just bought the 5d mark 2 and i spoke to the camera shop manager this morning , he was recomending it but i want some reviews first before i buy. Theres a wedding photographer ive been speaking to on YOUTUBE and all he uses for his weddings is the canon 17-40 f4 and his 70-200 2.8 IS...look at him here ( daveNunnweddings ) on youtube and he swears by his 17-40 lense???
Also Hi to ANNA, im also in the UK

 7.
i know ive already posted a question, but what is the widest lense for group photos , on my 5d mark 2? would i get away with the canon 24 - 105? i havent used a full frame camera before as ive only just reviced it and have always used a 40d and a 50d.

thx for any suggestions

 8.
Hi, ive just recived my canon 5d mark 2, i have the 70-200 2.8 IS , and a canon 50 1.8, and as a back up i have a canon 50d and a tamron 17-50 2.8. My question is that im shooting lots of weddings coming up and i need a wider lense for my 5d mark 2, but money is the issue at the moment! a few wedding photographers i know said to go with the canon 17-40 f4.........but they are still a little expensive for me at the moment.........PLEASE can anyone suggest a 3rd party good lense that will work for me as i need a lense simply for the group shots etc.....maybe tamron / sigma etc.......hope someone can advise me on this? id be really greatful.

Many thx

 9.
Hi im a wedding, portrait, school photographer and im upgrading in the next few days to the 5d mark 2, this comes with the canon 24-105 f4 IS lens. I have to sell one of my cameras to get some money back but dont know which one? ive got a 50d and a 40d.the lens i have are as follows a canon 70-200 2.8 L IS , a Tamron 17-50 2.8, and a canon 50mm 1.8.now ive been told that the tamron cant be used on the 5d which is a shame as i love the lens.now money is going to be tight but i will have to replace this lens with something for the 5d in focal legnth but which lens do you think at a good price?.im concentrating more for the Wedding side of things and portraits. But also dont know which camera to keep the 50d or the 40d?

thx so much if you can help and advise.
10.
Hi all once again,

Its been a while since i last popped on here as ive been busy on my new business venture since you all helped me at the start, i thought youd be kind enough to help me once again. Ive just landed a school contract, ive finished the first shoot and all the money is in and after the printing and mount costs and the percentage to the school i made a profit of £1350, so im happy with that as its a small school, BUT i found that several of my photos were quite washed out on one side and i gather its because the kids are very young and very exitied and dont keep still to long and was moving away from the left strobe if that makes sence? now i was told that many school photographers use CONTINUOUS LIGHTING for thier sessions??? for all my other work ' wedding / portrait etc i use flash, but for a simple school set up would continuous lighting be better???
Im rubbish at explaining this in writing sorry but i hope you understand what i mean.......BASICLY contiuous or flash for a simple school portrait set up?

many thx again
Mr Hughes

 11.
MANY THKS ONCE AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR FEEDBACK, and yes my mistake it is the Tamron 17-50 2.8...
ok ill have a good think about upgrading to the 5d mark2, its just i heard so many good reviews about it.
many thx
Geraint

 12.
Hi i havent asked you guys n girls anything for a while, but since i did, ive shot 3 weddings and got another 3 booked. Now that ive done them ive realised i do need to change just a few bits of equipment, so i need ur advise please.
At the moment im using a 50d as main camera and a back up of a 40d......lenses i use at the moment is 70-200 2.8 IS, tamron 17.55 2.8, canon 50.1.8..
I now know that both the 50d and 40d are not to clever in low light with higher iso levels (with noise), now im thinking of getting the 5d mark2 which ive heard is good at higher iso, IS THIS CORRECT?
Also will i be able to use my lenses i currently have with the 5d mark2 as it is a full framed camera, this confuses me?
so questions id like you to help me with is the mark 2 5d with low noise and lense conpatability.
that was a little long winded sorry , i do tent to blab on a bit.....but thank you if you could help me.

 13.
thank all.yes nadine, i only put the camera in full auto as an experiment, i always shoot manual, av / tv. i checked and my camera was set to AI SERVO, so as i was focusing and re-composing the frame i was losing my intended focus point. id just like to mention to james and gary i am thankfull for your feedback , but i dont know if i write these questions in a way that makes me sound like a total beginner but my photography is quiet ok, there was just a few things that were getting to me and i wanted to ask to see what feedback i get. Yes it will be my first wedding coming up and yes its going to be a challenge, but im sure it was for everyone on thier first wedding, and because of my work and catwalk shoots & location shoots is why ive been booked to shoot these weddings, ive actually got 9 other weddings booked after this one, and its all through people who have seen my style and work. Im just so egar to get this one correct being my first im picking at everything and filling my brain with tips from you pro's. I just thought that there maybe something up with my camera, but its my fault as i should of checked my settings and wat metering mode is was in. I know its a bit backwards but this is the way it worked, but one week after my first wedding ive paid to go on a full weekend wedding photography workshop, which im hoping will help even more. But thx again to nadine as your comments are always great and to everyone else .

thx

 14.
Hi guys again, im noticing that my shots are simply not sharp enough, the gear im using is good gear for example canon 50d, tamron 17-55 2.8, canon 70-200 2.8.IS. I noticed as im looking around the forum that Nadine had wrote to someone else who posted a question that he had been shooting a wedding and when he got home he was dissapointed that many of his pics were not really sharp! and she wrote about using the AI servo was a big no no, that he should of been using ONE shot. Well im hoping this is my problem so its an easy fix as my 50d is always on AI SERVO. as when i first watched a video reguarding the 50d it stated that AI servo was the best to keep the camera. Im simply a bit nervus as my first wedding is coming up and this is now the only issue i got, as ive been noticing the same with my pics is that they are not really sharp and sometimes way way to soft. I realise that 8x10 and smaller they might be passable but thats besides the point, im using good gear and these shots should be much better.Hope someone can help with this as i dont want it to be a problem on the big day with all the different shots ill be taken, I.E groups etc. I ve also noticed that at 200mm on my 70-200 the shots are way to soft also.
thx guys for you help

 15.
MENDEL LEISK, as i stated my intentions of going out today to shoot some photos in different modes as i stated was to try what you said, the ISO was not on auto, it was kept at ISO 100 at all times. I had the camera in full auto ( it choose ISO 100 ) also AV mode & Tv all at iso 100. but all the same when i got the pics into lightroom. Very grainy and not to sharp either. The time of day was great shooting weather so i really dont understand, as since i had this camera ive noticed the amount of grain, but have just put up with it, this is why i wanted to do this test today .
Also Mendel notice....No question marks. lol

 16.
well when i put it in full auto, it set itself to ISO 100, 1/1000 AT 195MM F2.8. and this is taken at 6 o clock today in a park with nice weather???
the above setting are just one example but they are all ISO 100? SO I DONT KNOW WATS GOING ON?

 17.
Hi all, ive noticed that my pics are very grainy? so i thought id take kids for a walk and took the 50d and canon 70-200 2.8 IS , i took pics not worrying about what i was photographing, and trued all diff modes, from full auto, AV, etc . i got home and put them into lightroom and zoomed in and everyone is grainy? and not very sharp at all even the ones taken in full auto and P mode etc even though the histogram shows the exposier is ok etc......any ideas?
