Back when I was little, I had a book about a steam engine named Smokey.  This image reminds me of the illustrations in the book.  Very well done.

I noticed that your new to the site, so welcome to photo.net!  It's a great community, and I'm sure you'll learn a lot here.  I know I have!

So, you've asked for a critique on this image.  In terms of composition, I really like this image.  I think you've cropped it nicely in general, although you might have wanted to give your subjects a little bit more headroom.  I also would have done away with whatever that is (purse strap maybe?) that is in the image on top of the shadow.  It distracts from the otherwise relative simpleness of the shot.

Another thing I want to point out is that this image is overexposed.  You may have wanted to consider using a faster shutter speed (if possible given your camera model) to reduce the exposure.  This would help you capture the blue of the sky, and reduce the amount of reflection off of the water.  It would make the image look more natural.

I'm sure some of the other members here may have some more insightful comments to make.  The best advice I can give you is to read as much as you can around here.  One great spot to check out is the Beginner Questions forum - there are a lot of great tips in there. This place has helped me advance my skills more than any other resource I've tried.

Wonderful shot.  The blur of the wings adds to the drama of the scene, and the background blur adds a very nice effect.  Kudos!
