1.
Absolutely it is just a case of time and usage Shun. Your second paragraph is good example of something that would have me befuddled had you not brought it up. Now, I'll have a better understanding as well as the fact I'll go back and check that out in the manual again.

Thanks.

  2.
Thanks for the input guys. I shoot mainly in Aperture Priority and in RAW, although I'll be using + jpeg until Adobe does it's thing. Canon's cameras seem more intuitive to me when picking them up for the first time and in truth, Nikon's leave me scratching my head at first glance. It's all a learning curve but I'll get there in the end.

I think a better way for me to have asked the question would have been what settings do you like to use? Matt did that in his post and Shun too. By getting a sense of what others like and do to help make their images better, I can then figure out for myself whether that setting might work for me.

Thanks.

  3.
Hi everyone,

I just switched over from Canon with a D600 purchase. Being unfamiliar with some of the menu settings are terminology of Nikon's, I am wondering what are the no brainer settings that I should change from default for general ease of use and image quality?

Thanks for any input you can provide the Nikon new guy :)

Cheers,
Matt

  4.
Back when I was putting my kit together, I used George Ury to by my 500cm body. I did it the old fashioned way :) Picked up the phone and spoke to George himself. Very nice guy to deal with and reasonable prices. The thing that really impressed me was that he was quite conservative in his rating of the body. Definitely worth a look.

  5.
I picked up a 167 recently on a whim because KEH had one cheap. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite cameras for some of the reasons already mentioned. I have the Zeiss 50 1.7 with a Zeiss 28 2.8 on the way. For the 85, I might push the boat out and get the 1.4 version. It's capable of producing some stunning shots from what I have seen.

  6.
Here a couple from the Rolleiflex Automat I just sold:

This one is from earlier in the summer. I have a bit of a back log of film to develop and scan so nothing available from the last few weeks. So really nice stuff in this thread, very interesting to see peoples work from this forum.

Cheers, Matt.

  9.
In my experience, Q.G. can come on a bit strong at times, you might call it part of his charm. Whether you like what he is saying or not, he is right. I think 3 posts back you said you wouldn't post in this thread again. I would have quit while you were slightly ahead.

Interested to know, if he paid $30 for it why doesn't he just price it lower to move it quickly seeing as he's making a killing on it anyway. Odd thread but mildy amusing.

Have a nice day!

  10.
These are superb! I really like the color shot of the lake. I ticked one camera off my lust list recently when I got my Hasselblad. The Mamiya 7 is another I'd love to have. The lenses are just so sharp, as evidenced here. Congrats.

  11.
Heres a couple of my shots of late:

  12. I have a Rolleiflex Automat that I use and a couple of 35mm rangefinders

plus my Canon digital SLR. Aside from the fact that they all take pictures,

they are all different in style and operation. An A16 back would be nice but

there are cheap enough options out there that another system becomes

viable. I do believe I will likely end up with said A16 back and a prism to use

    with it for verticals.

    Thanks.

  13.
I would definitely want the extra 4 exposures rather than just cropping. A prism seems like a must for 645, shooting verticals with a WLF can't be much fun.

What got me thinking about this was looking at Pentacon 6 and Kiev 60's. I saw there was a 645 version of the Kiev. Then I realized that a cheap prism and A16 back would be about the same cost as a P6 mount set up. The one thing I find attractive about the P6 mount cameras is the 35mm SLR style handling, albeit in a bigger package. Of course it doesn't make much sense to start buying a new system, but every camera system has its own merits and quirky charms. For example, I really like the results I have seen with the 35mm lens for the Mamiya 645 cameras.

Thanks.

  14.
Hi Everyone,

I have been thinking about shooting some 645 format lately and was considering buying an A16 back and a Prism for my Hasselblad but was wondering whether I might consider a cheap M645 1000s set up instead? I have also looked Kiev offerings in 645 from Hartblei and Arax for the CZJ lenses. The 180mm Sonnar looks interesting. I am looking for an eye level experience basically.

Anything else I should be considering? I did own a Bronica ETRS a long time ago and had a lot of problems with it so won't be considering one of those.

Cheers,
Matt.

  15. My last two purchases were hasselblad 50 & 80mm cf lenses in bgn.

Both had some small scuffs on the barrel but the glass, more

importantly, was perfect. The lens I bought before that, a bronica

80mm, was in the same condition as a bgn but had a damaged filter

ring that wasn't listed in the item description like they usually do. I

ended up keeping it because of the aforementioned slow exchange

    process.

Experiences vary but 95% I see documented on the various forums are positive when referring to keh's bgn rating.

  16. Hi,

I am looking at picking up a used Polaroid back for my 500CM and was wondering if there was any consensus on which is the better

choice? I have seen the Hasselblad 100, an NPC back for 100 and the Polabasic back. I am looking at ease of use and sharpness.

    Thanks,

    Matt.

  17.
I use it for mainly Medium Format and scan at 2400 dpi also. I am happy enough with the results but have to confess I haven't printed any of my scans yet. I have been considering the betterscanning.com holder and will probably spring for it at some point. Every comment I have read about them says that it improves scan quality.

You can get an idea of output quality here, full sizes are available: http://www.flickr.com/photos/photomat-/tags/canoscan8800f/
There a couple of 35mm scans in there.
