  1. never really thought much of the whole fill-the-field-with-unidentifiable-machinery thing, but the range of tones is nice and I have to admit that I probably wouldn't be able to so as good a job of it so I guess what I'm trying to say is... well done but the subject matter is as bland as plain toast...

...don't know much about them crazy new fangled digital jobs, but you really ought to be able to control exposure otherwise what's the point, know what I mean... it's 'cause of things like this that I avoid digital cameras like the plague
  2. no, no crop -just leave the damn picture alone, the top and left? that would lose a good part of the dock and the rigging, silly... the right??? I love the way that the scene fades off into the fog, it's a wonderful picture, Bill, congrats on catching it and on POW
  3. actually, I'd throw that digital camera right out the window, along with your autofocus cameras and lenses and your full suspension mountain bike (can you tell that I'm a technophobe?) Three things that, in my not so humble opinion take the fun and skill right out of it
  4. ...nothing to do with the photo, but I personally believe that people who use Star Trek analogies need to be smacked upside the head with a sea bass. get a life and find some material that doesn't give away the fact that you're a big dork

You have a few photos here that make me wonder why you bothered posting them for critique. Are they your best pictures? Are these the pictures you're proudest of? What do you hope to gain from our comments on this one? It looks like a random picture with very uneven lighting that could have been taken from a much lower angle of a scared looking pigeon.

    Take it easy, -Matt

  5. no thanks, by head still pounding from saigon... hmmm... I guess it's just way to busy, the bottle needs to get in or out of the picture, make up your mind, will ya? jeez, inanimate objects these days... or maybe flip it around so you can see the label, but you'd have to bring the angle down a bit and sort of frame the left side with it, if you really want it there... and really just clear out the rest of that crap in the background, it does nothing for the picture. One last little problem I have (I'm probably your favorite guy by now), flip over the place mat so you can't see the label, -Martha Stewart would be appalled...

    Take it easy,

  6. you really need to come back to Cape Cod in the summertime, it really is a lot nicer than this... -kidding, I love the weather in massachusetts all year round, especially foggy autumn mornings, freak that I am. I realize the fog was probably crazy thick but I think that if there were a tiny bit more detail, shadow, silhouette (whatever you want to call what the fog's doing to the treeline) it might work a bit better. One question, though. What is the dark line running across the top of the photo?

    Take it easy,

    -Matt

  7. If you were trying to capture the feeling of crossing the street when you're drunk -you nailed it... this is exactly how the street looks to me when I'm hammered. Sorry, but I tend not to like or trust blurry pictures, so try not to take it too personally. You were probably trying to capture the motion in the street, right? It would have worked better if the store fronts on the opposite side of the street were in focus, as it is, it looks like you were just a victim of camera shake.
