    <p>However, I think that the terms 'normal' and 'standard' have been slightly confused here.</p>

    <p>"In my opinion" (While I'm still allowed to have one) the term 'standard' lens was used by the manufacturers to indicate the lens supplied as standard with the camera body, the focal length based on the diagonal of the film frame (or thereabouts) which gave 'normal' proportioned images.<br>

    A 'normal' lens, to me at least, is simply what you use more often than anything else - and I tend to use wide angles...</p>

  2. <p>I'm new here, and frankly I had no idea it was going to be so much fun! (Note to QC de B: I too have the book "Know your focusing screens and other vegetables" that was given away with cornflakes - we must compare notes someday...)<br>

    On advice of a friend I changed to an Acute Matte after having had similar 'problems' as the original poster. "In my opinion" this was a good move, as it is much easier for me to focus, which is the priniciple no? I'm frankly not too interested in the where's and why's, it just works - good enough for me.</p>
