Just the fact that this is debated on the Nikon forum of this site proves the fact that we are all very brand loyal individuals......Nikon are doing something right with their marketing and design etc......they are good at making us want their products. Most of us have new models. Why will this be any different in another 5 years. We are consumers and we will consume. With digital the ante has been upped. That said it is hard to criticize the D700 even compared to older film media, whereas the D200 really suffered from quite ugly digital noise....I think the images D700 have a more filmly quality (IMO) and in that sense I would be happy using it in 5 yrs from now. It is a more mature product. Image quality will improve but the differences will be smaller and we will be tempted by the new features.....what about in camera HDR, panoramic etc etc

The answer to the original post is yes---the 77mm wide angle adapter fits fine on the 16-35VR...but you have probably already found this out...I got one today

I am happy with my new 16-35. Very good sharpness and colours. I personally find the VR useful when I don't always have a tripod with me. I read some negative reviews by pixel peepers but I am very happy with it, but some very good ones also... It is long but not too heavy. There isnt much in the price difference between 16-35 new and a second hand 17-35. There is a good bit of distortion at the extreme wide end, but is correctable pretty easily. I'd be wary about a cheap 17-35...since the 16-35 came on the market there are more used 17-35s floating around so they are cheaper but if it's cheaper than the rest it's for a reason---I was happier to pay a little more than the cheaper second-hand 17-35 for a new 16-35 and have VR.......just my tuppence

Rick Dohme - great angle and flash/lighting of cactus
Aguinaldo de Paula--brilliant every week
Jeanne Hauschild - interesting snail trek

It happens when just the adapter ring is on between 16-20 mm focal length on 16-35VR--without the holder. so it is clearly caused by the adapter ring not being close enough to the lens. I woud suspect the wideangle adapter ring would be ok-it's closer--but the shop didnt have one in stock

I don't know about this, but I do know the standard (not wide-angle) 77mm adapter causes serious vignette effect from 16-20mm so wouldn't get that one.

Happy St Patrick's Day
Here is one from the Parade today in Dublin City Centre--I brought my almost 3 yr old son to his first ever parade. We were lucky enough to watch it from an appartment over looking Dublin's O'Connell Bridge and O'Connell Street. I wanted to encompass some of this central street and some of the great colours. In the background is the statue of Daniel O'Connell himself and the famous GPO. CBS cameramen were also shooting from this appartment and my son and his friends got to be on TV!
Hope you enjoy!

Happy Wednesday to all!
The pics this week are great. I am trying to keep mine to pics taking in the past week which makes it difficult as it's been so grey here. Hopefully that will keep me on the lookout all the time and improve my skills. The colours in this image were great but I liked the grayscale conversion as much.
