1.
Thanks everyone! I will return the lens.

 2.
Hi All,
I recently purchased a D7100 with AF-S NIKKOR 18-140 3.5-5.6 and have been using it for a few days. It has been horrible and I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is wrong. The initial symptoms were unpredictable metering and rampant overexposure. I have tracked down the (now obvious) problem which seems to be that the aperture blades on the lens are not engaging at all. They remain at their most open state (depending on zoom). If I adjust from f3.5 to f25, the body clicks but the blades don't engage and there is no evidence the blades close using DOF preview. If I remove the lens and try to engage the blades directly by moving the aperture control lever at the base of the lens, nothing happens. I am assuming there is a major issue with the lens, but thought I would check with you all to see if there is something else I should try.
Thanks,
Tom

 3.
Thanks to everyone for the thoughtful input! it is very helpful. I don't have too many Minolta lenses, so I am pretty much ready to switch systems (Nikon or Canon). I will miss the in-body stabilization, but I just can't see picking up Sony at this point in time.

 4.
Hi All,
I am looking to replace my old Konica-Minolta 7D. (Yes its been a while since I have upgraded my equipment). Despite its shortcomings, one thing I like about the 7D is that many of the controls are manual/mechanical rather than in some digital menu system with multipurpose wheel. I guess I am old school. In any case, I am still learning about Nikon SLRs. I have come across the Df which has lots of mechanical controls, but it is near the top of my price range. Can anyone suggest other SLRs that are more "manual"?
Thanks!
