Macro Lens

Jean, +1 for Kent Staubus and others re Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro. You can do this for under your $300 limit if you are willing to shop for a used version on the net. Check with your Botanist, and good luck.

  2.
Thank you all, gents. It was KEH that I was trying to recall.

  3.
Can't remember the name of the well thought of dealer in pre-owned photo gear. I believe it was located in Georgia.
Decatur maybe? Help appreciated.

  4. Extremely well done; all the elements as mentioned above.
  5.
Tim, thanks for the invite (challenge?). 18 months ago, I lost all of my photos to a computer attack. As much as that, I have developed some physical problems that limit my efforts. The reason I posted my thanks to this forum was that a monitor kindly advised me that it would be appropriate here, since many of you stop here.
So far as "comments" regarding a specific photo, I will occasionaly message them to the contributor as i recently did for Julie H and Luis T.
Again, Thanks to all at No Words.
Charles Fletcher

    Sainte-Marie d’Auch

    Great colors. Well captured.
  7.
This is just a Thank You note to all who contribute to "No Words", and especially to those who are the most regular contributors. Your posts are a themed tapestry of talents and imagination. You carry my interest in photography each day as I go through the threads. Please don't go away...keep your good work (and play) coming.
Charles Fletcher

  8.
Thanks Richard. No plans to go RAW so will look at the options to replace Picasa.

  9.
Richard et al, I'm a very basic picture taker who uses a Nikon D90, shoots in JPEG, and uses Picasa for a little post processing of 300 to 400 pictures per year. Would either Capture or View be of any use to me? Would appreciate your input.

Nice capture of the reflections in a most interesting room. Good work.

    Considering P900

Thanks for your comments. Bought it from B&H. Anxious to put it through it's paces.

    Considering P900

I like the idea of long reach without the expense/weight of another lens. May I have the opinions of those who have experience with the P900? Interested in both pros and cons, knowing that there are drawbacks to something so specialized.
Sample photos, too.

Thanks

    Lake Bled

Very nicely done...especially the composition, using the reflections. I've enjoyed your shots from Slovenia.
  14. Ditto for Mike, and I'd add the ME-109. Your aircraft pics always get a second look.

    Roses

Very imaginative and skillfully done. Kudos also to the model.

    Northumberland Fisheries Museum

This photo has a very strong appeal. Colors, light, the reflections, and the foreground/background division are most pleasing. Well seen and well shot.
  17.
I'm going to be starting to learn this software. I'd like some feedback from those of you who have used it...pros and cons.
It seems there is very little in the way of tutorials for this. Any input about the PaintShop series would be helpful. Thanks.

    Radkowice

+1 for Ruud. The lines are fascinating.
  19.
p.s. to Peter's post...Suggest you take a look at Sony A6000. Not perfect but an affordable start with 16-50mm lens, and a long list of desirable specs. Happy Christmas.

  20.
Casey, I'm +1 for Elliott, especially his comment re lighting and composition. And as Wouter said,"use it till it fails".

  21.
Thanks for giving me your thoughts, (and your correction, Shun). I'll let Nikon be Nikon, and a second system for the car stand on its own.

  22.
I'm a Nikon D90 shooter with a variety of DX lenses (i.e. 50mm 1.8D, 85mm 1.8D, 55-300 4.5-5.6G and a Tamron SP 90mm 2.8m). I would like to add a smaller camera to be kept in my car for occasional use. The Sony A6000 with the 16-50mm lens is attractive for its size and many features. I will need to buy an adapter to use any of my Nikon mount gear but that will not be a problem.
I would like to get some feedback from actual A6000 users about the camera itself, and also from users who have tried some of these DX lenses on the A6000.
Thanks for the help.

  23.
Stacy and Bob B... I believe the next "supermoon" is August 10, per an article I read yesterday.

  24. What's not to like? Composition, contrasts, light...all good.
