1.
@Ken - Thank you for your advice. I couldn't agree more. I shoot RAW images as well but when I take pictures of friends and family, or when I travel I just want to be able to get decent color without editing. Shooting RAW uses lots of card space/disk space and editing hundreds of pictures in Camera Raw takes forever. I own this camera for 2 years now and I had an older canon dslr before and have always been satisfied, but now that I see nikon jpegs... I want to get that kind of look, without selling all my gear and buying new one.

 2.
Hello guys,
Last weekend I worked on a project with a couple of friends who were using a Nikon D90 and a D300s. I am aware that these cameras have newer technology that the old canon 40d but the difference in color my friend got on the Nikons compared with what I got on my Canon was very big. The jpegs I got on my camera look so flat compared to nikons which have such vivid colors and contrast. When I try to adjust them in LR I only get oversaturated colors which look bad. I can't get that pop-out effect. It's driving me crazy :) ! Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas ?
Is any way possible to achieve that nice look straight out of the camera (using custom picture styles, WB shift, or something else) without having to shoot RAW and spend lots of time in photoshop on each single image ?
Is any site where I can find decent picture styles that would suit my needs ?
PS: I generaly shoot on Standard or Faithful picture style with AWB and rarely use custom WB or K. I tried editing on camera the default presets but nothing work yet.

Thanks
3.
Hi everyone, I am a amateur photographer looking to buy a scanner for my film work. I shoot only on 35mm B&W and I would like a flatbed or dedicated scanner which would do a decent job within the pricerange of 300$. I am not intrested in slide or color so I don't mind having lower performance within color and stuff. I used before a Nikon Coolscan 9000 (which I didn't own) and I was really impressed with the quality. Now, I don't want the same quality for 10% of the price but I don't want 10% of the quality either. :)

The brands I can find in shops here are Canon, Epson, Plustek, Nikon and that's about it.
Based on your experience with scanners which model from this brands would you recommend ? Is Plustek good ? Since the specs look good...
Do you know any site specialized in testing flims scanners so I can see some results ?

Thank you,
4.
Thaks Joe,
I'll take a look on the films you suggested me.
As for meter I tested it with the digital eos 40d(and this works good judgeing from the histogram) on a gray card and the results matched perfectly. I even compared to other cameras I have and did all right. It only tricks me a lot during night or when I have any kind of light source hitting the lens from the front or even from the side. I kind of learn how it works during the last year so I can guess when somenting is not good.
L'll use a Lowepro backpack, and unfortunately I will not take my tripod since its heavy and will take too much room.
Thank all of you again and if you think there is any more things I should know before hitting the road please tell me.
5.
Thank you all for the advices.

As for the route I think I am going for more a classic one to see some of the old sites. I will begin my trip in Mexico city and the next day I will meet my contact in Guadalajara. She will host me for a few days so we can enjoy the parties in Guadalajara which are organized that period. Then I will include Teotihuacan, Chichen Itza, Oaxaca, Acapulco and lots others. I just didn't have enought time work on my itinerary.

Returning to the film issue I think I will take:

Ilford Delta 100 x 10
Ilford Delta 400 x 10

What slide Film ??? I will do a roll or two to learn how they work :).I can only find here the following:

Kodak Ektachrome 100 Plus -> 8EUR
Kodak Ektachrome E100G -> 7.65EUR
Kodak Ektachrome E200 -> 8.69EUR

Fuji Sensia 100 -> 2.77EUR
Fuji Sensia 200 -> 4.39EUR
Fuji Sensia 400 -> 5.70EUR
Fuji Velvia 100 -> 6.71 EUR
Fuji Provia 100 F -> 6.01EUR
Fuji Provia 400 X -> 7.19EUR
Fuji Astia 100F -> 5.82EUR

So the price range is preety big, from 2.77EUR to 8.69EUR. I would like good quality ones but I would not go for the most expensive beacause its out of the budget. So based on the quality/price and the mostly outdoor shooting in Mexico(I'm more into street photography), what would you recomand?
Thanks again,
Razvan Rosca

 6.
Hello everyone,
Finally I get to do the trip I have long waited for. 6 weeks in Mexico.
I have some doubts about what should I take with. My gear consists of canon 40d with tamron 17-50/2.8 and canon 70-200/4 and on film canon a1 with 24/2.8 and 50/1.4
With film I only shot black and white and develop them at home, but some friends recomanded me slide film for this trip. I never used slide films and I am worried about not getting the perfect expousure with the built-in meter and getting bad results on slide film. The meter works perfectly but I read that the slide film need a very accurate expousure. So, should I take slide film ? Which one would you recomand ?
What about the black and white? What do you recomand ?
Last, is it safe to carry around all that gear ?

Thanks!!
7.
Thank you all for the answers. I posted here two photos of the actual finder and focusing screen.
What I don't understand is how to mount the screen between the spring clips.
If I just put it inside it seems ok but it doesn't stay in place ... well I am confused
Could you explain the procedure based on the pictures below.
Thanks
8.
Hi, I have a Exa 1b with the standard folding viewfinder and I recently bought from ebay a focusing screen for it since the original one was missing.
I didn't manage to mount it on the viewfinder(I think it is H3 or H4). I don't understand exacly the position it should be mounted and how to do that.
If there are any exa or exakta owners who have done this I would really appreciate any suggestions or links on how to mount the focusing screen.
Best regards,
