Saw this article and reflected on why things are getting so tough for professionals. I haven't even tried getting credentials to shoot a show in ages. This guy isn't helping make it any easier.

Another thing to consider is the newer FX cameras like the D600 have a DX mode for DX lenses.

The Tamron 24-70/2.8 is pretty damn good. It pretty much lives on my D600. I've used the Nikon 24-70 before, but the
weight and lack of VR (unlike the Tamron) just didn't justify the cost for me since I'm not a pro.

I've had similar experience with charitable work. Tried to get involved with Help Portrait, but got shut out (the guy
organizing included people he knew and didn't even respond to other volunteers). Another local organization posted a
request for help covering one of their events, so I volunteered. After spending the night taking candid shots at a
fundraiser I sent the photos to their media person. Pictures were all posted at their website and Facebook page, and
there was no thanks and not even photo credit. I just shrugged it off since it was for charity anyways, but it definitely left
me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Actually, after looking at you shots (especially the last couple) it would appear that the young Soldier was probably home
from Initial Training and out showing off her uniform. The clues for me: no obvious rank or other insignia, and more
importantly, no Shoulder Sleeve Insignia on the left shoulder. Anyone who had completed training and gone to
permanent duty station would have one.
Even though people have gotten used to seeing the camouflage uniforms over the last ten years, it's kind of bad form to
wear them out and about like that. It's supposed to be a utility or "work" uniform, not what you wear out to the restaurant.
Obvious exceptions for lunch during the work day, etc.
Just this retired NCOs .02 on the situation.

Not so sure I'd recommend Glazer's in Seattle. First it's not on the greatest location due to construction (known locally as the "Mercer
Mess") on a multi-year effort to fix some traffic issues.
The other reasons I personally have a hard time recommending Glazer's is price (not the most competitive) and more importantly for me
attitude. Every time I've gone in there I've either wound up with a clerk that was a condescending jerk or was hustling for a sale.
For me, I find Kenmore Camera to be easier to deal with - friendlier and more willing to discuss things without the know it all attitude and
I've never felt pressured to spend money.

Another alternative, if you're going to be on Oahu would be renting. Hawaii Photo Rental in Kaimuki is great. I used to rent from them
when I lived there.

Well, given that the page says that people like to use it for Basejumping, and there's pictures of people that jumped from it
with parachutes...

You realize that Xerox was compensated for Apple's use of the mouse/GUI, right?
In the form of $1m in stock?
Doesn't sound like theft to me.
