I think this is one of their best moves.
Should I crop differently? I can't _add_ anything, since this is all
I got on film, but I should I remove something?

This a really nice composition. The (late afternoon?) lighting is very nice and brings out the color of the flower beautifully. Also, the buds in the foreground add some balance and interest to the composition.

I am trying to let the colors and textures of these flowers be the
real subject here. Any thoughts about lighting and composition would
be appreciated. Thanks!

At least when the photo is reproduced on the web, there isn't enough texture to really make this shot work for me. My first suggestion is to make it bigger. Otherwise, perhaps you could crop it closer or use a wide angle to bring in more of the bridge without losing the part that caught your attention. Just my opinion - I'm not sure what you wanted to capture about that old bridge.

Please provide any comments on any aspect of this - thanks!!

I have been including a bit of tree in many of my pictures because to
me it seems to communicate space better. Do they help or hurt in this
one?
