1.
I took a walk with my family in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington Ontario.
These are some shots of the friendly chickadees there. Both are taken with the K200D and Sigma 70-300 APO DG.

00WA2x-234297584.jpg.e8dd2bd9d80eedf0005061b095ac7461.jpg

 2.
We took some out of town visitors to the Wild Bird Kingdom aviary in Niagara Falls, Ontario this weekend. I spent a good hour taking blurry bird pictures in less than adequate light. A few turned out OK. Both are taken with the K200D and Sigma 70-300 APO DG.

00VwXe-226987584.jpg.cdd89ce87778963a0d48765b575bab83.jpg

 3.
My son is working on his Photography badge for Scouts. This was my first outing with him, teaching him how to take pictures "the old fashioned way" with B&W film, manual focus. He's using my Pentax Program Plus, T-max 400. Shot with the K200D, Sigma 70-300 APO DG

00VpPe-222719684.jpg.749363c97c32e4f82ba3be1fe9ebb3bb.jpg

 4.
It's been very cold here in Burlington Ontario, but without significant snow to photograph, so I have to make do with what I can see. Two photos with the K200D, Sigma 75-300 zoom.

00Vecc-216167584.jpg.a45646b52c7c3f20290066e316a071ba.jpg

 5.
After acquiring my first DSLR this year (a K200D), still I have to say that I like this one the best. Scan of a wet darkroom print, shot with my Pentax Program Plus, Kodak Tmax 100 film, Soligor 75-150 manual focus zoom. ...Sometimes things just "click". Unfortunately, the small size doesn't do justice to the sharpness of my lucky shot. Thanks to my student nephew who temporarily set up a dark room in my basement last year.
Great stuff everyone!

00VR66-207439684.jpg.53b37b10b69419d57537d7ca181227d5.jpg

 6.
Since we have two threads going and I actually got out today to take some pictures, I'll post a couple here too. Both are with the K200D and my new Sigma 70-300mm zoom.

00VPIQ-206331584.jpg.07f82c1ac7b9017e090aecdb08367292.jpg

 7.
Today I went out with the kids to try out my new toy, a Sigma (what a great name!) 70-300 APO DG f4.0-5.6 zoom. It's a Christmas present from my lovely wife. Both with the K200D.

00VPI7-206329584.JPG.0349790f99db259e2ff7828ac1ebce07.JPG

 8.
Despite no shortage of snow all around us, my city has been unusually bare this fall (much to my kids' frustration), so I find the snow pictures particularly appealling. Some of my favourites from this week are:
- Robert Colameco: Rittenhouse Sq is gorgeous - looks like a Dicken's story
- John Behrends: Old Grist Mill - the best pictures always happen in the worst weather - 3 cheers for Pentax weather sealed cameras
- Andrew Dickson: I actually like the focus in your first speed skater shot. The one skater whose face is in focus is the one that seems to be looking right at the camera.

 9.
The torch relay for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games came through my area yesterday (Oakville and Burlington, Ontario). I managed a few "snapshot" quality photos - my best views happened in failing light so a had the K200D at ISO 800, sometimes holding the camera overhead in burst mode, hoping to hit something.

00VInx-202371684.JPG.f8fc463d1beebd7061cc0a73e31f28ca.JPG
