An overwhelming starry sky can often be viewed in Down Under yet - due to relatively clean (non-polluted) air and the lack of light pollution (that is, a greater number of larger cities). You're viewing dead gum trees (Eukalyptus) and an intriguing starry sky / star trails due to a long exposure (around 30 min.) at Barmera, Lake Bonney, Murray river basin, South Australia, after sunset in autumn (April). The brightest star trail was due to planet Venus. Your comments are very much apppreciated! Volker

Canon EOS 5D MKII, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:2,8L II USM, Heliopan ND 3.0 filter, tripod, long exposure, PP in PS 5.1 using NIK Software filters in partLocation: Eckwarderhörne, Jade Bight, North SeaYou're viewing remnants (pillars / columns) of an old pier used by ferries.I was - somehow - recalling the movie "Silent Running" while taking this shot, which much impressed me decades ago..."Silent Running is a 1972 environmentally themed American science fiction film starring Bruce Dern, (...)The film depicts a future in which all plant life on Earth has been made extinct. Only a few specimens have been preserved in enormous, greenhouse-like geodesic domes attached to a fleet of American Airlines space freighters, currently just outside the orbit of Saturn."(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Running, accessed 04.08.13)Interestingly, an old photo postcard is available on the Web showing how that pier had been constructed / looked like once (the postcard visualizes the pillars yet "doing their job" ;), that is, carrying the overall former construction):http://www.memorybilder.de/cgi-bin/galerie.pl?galerie=0012&pic=Bahnhof_u._F%E4hrhaus.jpg&UPcount=direktThanks so much for stopping by, rating as well as leaving a comment!Buona visione.Volker

Location: Lake Hart, South AustraliaLake Hart is a salt lake in the very heart of South Australia situated on the Stuart Highway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Highway, accessed 08.05.13). You're viewing remnants of a pretty old jetty (I assume). Lake Hart is a popular stop over for travellers going Adelaide to Darwin. Its a dry lake, mostly salt flats and is surrounded by bright red desert and dunes.Buona visione and thanks a lot for stopping by!Volker
