You may have added g-blur to the entire frame and then removed it from her eyes and lips only. This would have softened her skin texture and created contrast with the rough pole. Then the close up would work...just a suggestion.

Except for the background everything is the same color. As an ex-chef I would have put the egg in a small watermelon, peach or avocado, something that contrasted more with the white.

DF lighting of fill flash would have taken away the shadows on their faces and highlighted the color of the dress.
