I've had new computers fail right out of the box or shortly thereafter (one HP desktop and a Toshiba laptop), my first D90 developed a glitch about a week after I bought it. I exchanged it for another one at Costco. The 2nd one works flawlessly however the kit 18-55 VR, which was perfect for almost a year, "suddenly" lost focus across some areas of the image. Nikon repaired it under warranty and it is now working and focusing great. The Tokina 11-16 I own works great. It's not a perfect world. I don't think the 11-16 is much different in general than other complex mass produced equipment, some units are not going to be in spec.

Then there's operator error. Me included.

I like Pascal's photo very much. I would have cropped out the wall in the foreground, perhaps made it horizontal.

Keith,
Thanks for the reply. I didn't think it could be done but was hopeful someone knew some shortcut or trick. I'll look up Phottix Cleon II, I don't even know what that is.

Apparently it is not possible to trap focus using the ML-L3 remote on a D90.

Thanks.

Do the firmware update again, if that can be done. It's worth a try.

Sharpening
in Nikon

Matt, Ellis, Peter & Lex,

I thank you for the answers, they are all good and helpful to me. I will shoot more and see the differences for myself as suggested. I think when I have an important shot I will make sure to record it as RAW + .jpg.

Cheers,
Sharpening
in Nikon

Hi all,

I have a D90 and was wondering what downsides, if any, there are to using the maximum sharpening settings.

Thanks.
