I like to set up my tripod and camera and just stand by it for awhile before doing any shooting. I feel that when I do this I am no longer invading anyones space but that they are now moving into my space and it seems to help with framing the shots with the backgrounds I want .

Keep the D200 and get it modified for shooting infrared, thats what I am going to do with my old D200 when taxes come back.

Go with he D700 and the 70-200mm VR lens for shooting portraits. This combo rocks.

My favorite lens and camera combo to go walking with is the D700 and 50mm f/1.4 AF-D. I also think that by using a prime like the 50 you improve your skills, you learn to move more and find the right angle.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I am really still undecided, but I am leaning towards getting the glass for now. I guess I should have also stated that I do a lot of my shooting at night because of my wife's and my work schedule. I am not saying that I shoot in complete darkness, but just not sure if I should get the fast glass or a body that handles the higher ISO's better. Decisions, decisions.

Okay here is my situation. I am currently using a D300 and I have a 35mm f/2.0, 50mm f/1.4, 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 and a 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VR. A year ago my 70-200mm f/2.8 was stolen out of my car and I have really missed it. I am trying to decide wether to buy a D700 and use the lenses I have now or to buy a nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and a 70-200 f/2.8 vr. I do not shoot wide that much, I tend to see like a telephoto lens see's, the middle of a scene. I would mainly be buying the D700 for it's full frame sensor, high ISO abilities. I know if I buy the lenses I mentioned I would be pretty well set on glass for a long time to come and could always save up for the D700 later, and buy then they should come down a little more in price. I shoot a lot of urban scenes/streetscapes. When I do shoot landscapes it is usually something in the scene rather than the whole scene itself. So, what would you all do in my postion? I am really leaning towards the two lenses because the D300 already produces great images for me. Any help would be great, thanks.
