i would prefer use of a video light vs flash... flash kills the mood by lighting up everything..at least with video light you can control the light a bit more

interesting...the dj is also a photographer..

no point charging them for a couple pics and make them feel like ur jacking them up...

the amount of money you make out of those couple prints is nothing compared to the potential of future referrals if you treat them nicely and make them your friends.

-

that is quite an investment upfront if you don't have paid gigs already....

i would get a 2nd flash :)

i dont think its hdr...i can see that happening with a single capture exposing 2x, one for the subject and 1 for the sky..

but that is an excellent example what a good photoshop work is

reach out to photographers in your area that you like and ask to see if they need help in a shoot. That's the best way to get your foot in.

workshops...a lot of them are waste of time and money if you ask me...

don't have experience with the 3 but love the 2 sc.
as with any batteries, it will degrade over time, but it is nothing to worry about, unless you are one of those that complains about how your macbook's battery now does not last as long as before after 5 yrs of using it.

import all images to LR.....edit in LR as much as possible, edit in PS when absolutely have to...
as simple as that.

i carry everything i use during the day with me... i don't want to worry about my stuff getting stolen.

maybe staples? i would imagine they'll have something to protect photos at that store.

just go to totallyrad's site and they have a page dedicated to recipes...there are some there that look like the ones you listed and they tell you which actions they used.

and to chong, it is my impression that great photographers tell their postprocessing techniques if you ask them.. but there are a lot of "average run of the mill" photographers that don't like to tell... and more often these are also the ones that complain how newcomers are ruining their business. :)

what i see is that they used totally rad's actions :)

i use manual focus, and a light that i turn on while focusing and then off once i have the subject in focus..

and i use all my flash in manual..none of that ttl voodoo guessing game.

wheres the popcorn so i can enjoy this train wreck

car, restroom in a restaurant/starbucks...... behind the bush...

if i paid you to take my photos and all you gave me was a dvd with watermark pics on it, i would be pissed...

watermark pics = useless pics for everyone but the photographer.

memory cards are cheap..a wedding moment is not.... go buy some more cards

-

you give the amount that's needed to tell the story... some do it in 50, others 500... only you can decide how many pics do you need. to give out X amount just because the rest are doing it too... well.. that's just kinda dumb.

-

well..90% of photographers use prophoto templates so maybe that says something about the blog.... or maybe about photographers in general... :)

you can also just browse the internet..there are plenty of free themes for wordpress that are not bad... and there are plenty of photographers that post static images on their blogs...

too dark for me.

I'm not saying that this is you, but it seems that most of the time these days a lot of new photographers wanting to 2nd shoot put improving/learning their own craft first ( so they have a port and can start charging more money ) and help the main photographer 2nd.

I mean yes, we all want to make more money and learn new tricks, but if helping the main photographer is not your primary concern, then perhaps you should pay for classes/lessons. Otherwise it's just a loosing proposition to the guy doing the teaching.

each jpg size should come out about 8-10mbs... so do your math, should fit you around 400-500 images per disk..which is usually what i usually fit into mine.

any amateur can take good pictures when everything is going well... but it is those who can take good pictures when hell breaks loose that sets them apart from the rest.

Complaint I'm hearing

i still hear more the "omg, the photographer down the street is offering me 2000 images...why are you only giving me 400".

i think a lot of the clueless brides out there still has the quantity over quality mentality.
