1.
I have just returned from a 2 week vacation to China. The following photos were taken in Xi'an.
2.
I was supposed to be going on vacation to Vietnam on Friday, but UK airspace is totally closed due to the Icelandic eruption, so have had to cancel. I live under the flight path of a London airport and there is nothing flying at all. So here are some pictures from 2004 to Egypt and Jordan taken with a Pentax MZ-30 (different name in the USA).

 3.
I spent the long Easter break with my parents in West Wales. This is where I spent my childhood and it is always great to go back for a few days. This first picture is of The Church of the Holy Cross at Mwnt and is an example of a medieval sailor's chapel of ease. The site is said to have been used since the Age of the Saints, but the present building is probably 14th century. The church is located about a hundred yards from the beach and sheltered behind a hill. There can't be many smaller or quainter churches in Britain.

It is lambing season in Wales at the moment. Whilst they look cute, Welsh lamb (in my opinion) is the tastiest in the world. Its all the lush fragrant herby grass they eat. Just need some mint sauce.
During the 1980's the number of red kites in England and Wales had fallen to around 30 pairs. There are now over a 1000 pairs and are fairly common sight now in parts of Wales. A conversation success story for Britain. This shot was taken at feeding station on a farm in the Brecon Beacons.
4.
Spring has sprung in London. I first started at Nunhead Cemetery. Which is one of the Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries of London, having been created in 1840. It might look in disrepair but is more of an elegant wilderness. It was alive with bird song.
Next was onto Crystal Palace Park. These dinosaurs were created in 1854 and predate Darwin's Origin of Species by 6 years. Richard Owen helped design these. He also first termed the word 'dinosaur' (meaning 'terrible reptile'). The models themselves are now considered out of date and to varying degrees inaccurate.
Hmmm... needs garlic.
6.
Well its 9.10 GMT here in London so time to kick things off. Yesterday was a wander round some of the East end of London, namely Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market. Where the Muslim Bangladeshi and Hipster communities meet. There was a cycle polo event in the market, which was a demonstration sport during the 1908 Olympic Games in London (how about 2012 as well).

 8.
A visit to the Thames Flood Barrier. The world's second largest movable flood barrier. Designed to prevent us Londoners from being flooded by an exceptionally high tide moving up from the sea.
9.
This is pretty much the reason why I voted for three pics. A trio of Monument Valley pictures all taken within the space of a few hours. Sunshine, sand storm and thunder storm.
