1. I use my ETRSi quite frequently. It sounds like they function like the SQ-A as far the shutter release. I use a shutter release probably 50% (with mlu 25% of the time) and the ETRSi fires at the speed set on the camera.

As Ben says" It would fire at the speed set on on the camera body as long as the T switch on the lens was not in the T position.

It sounds like this is what you're trying to do. "

Leave the T switch alone unless shooting a time exposure. The T switch is very handy when shooting long exposures.

I use a standard screw in cable release.

  2. Hello,

I'm having a difficult time locating a manual for a Minolta 5400 HS flash. I've searched on the web and different sites but to no avail. I'd rather not have to pay for one , but if I have to I will-. Does anyone know where I can download a manual ? I have also searched Butkus manuals, no luck---when I have got manuals from Butkus I do donate.

    thanks--tom

I finally found a website with quite a few Minolta manuals and got my manual there. If anyone is looking for other manuals it wouldn't hurt to check out DerryBryson.com .

  4.
A PDF would be great John, thank you.

I went to flickr, but the owner has disabled downloads. I read the instructions though..thanks Fred

I checked out the Greg Weber site , might have a lens to send him. The glass is pristine but I think the shutter speeds are a wee bit sluggish. thanks--Jeff

  5.
Thanks for the responses . I hope this thank you response goes through . For some reason , my first "thanks" did not - probably operator error . Yes , MLU is usually not needed but once in awhile I feel more at ease using it . That might be something I should test - take a shot without MLU and then take the same shot with MLU . Has anyone done this ? thanks again - tom

  6.
Not all srt 102's have mlu , at least that's what I have figure. But, are all mlu controlled from the left side of the camera ( as you face the camera ) ? Or , are some mlu on the right side of the camera, as you face the camera ? I found a picture of a 102 that has no mlu on the left side , but has what looks like a mlu on the right side. thanks - tom

  7.
I apologize if this question has been asked, but I think I've read every question regarding the Rapid Omega on the site. But, I know I've missed some, probably the one question I need.
I have been trying to remove the Series VI filter ring from my 90mm lens , to let me use 49mm filters. I have tried every trick I can think of plus all the tips I can find here. But then, I read one post here which stated that the DOF ring and lens shade must be removed by loosening up 3 tiny set screws. I found the 3 tiny set screws, they are so small I couldn't tell if they are screws or what. Do I need to remove the lens shade and DOF ring ? My last attempt consisted of making a 1 7/8 wooden circle and using a rubber jar opener beneath it-- no work . Its either stuck very well, or ?
thanks--tom

  8.
I have the 58mm lens and am trying to locate a series VII step up to 55mm adapter . I got one off of the auction site, but for some reason a 55mm filter screws in just a tad and then stops. I searched for a adapter and all that shows are 55mm to series VII adapters - opposite of what I need. I've had my rapid Omega 2 weeks and so far am enjoying it ! Thanks for any response- I know this is an old thread -- tom

  9.
Not sure if this should be posted here, if its in the wrong place I apologize in advance. While digging through a box of photography related treasures the other day I found a Topcon lens . Don't know why or where it came from, I've never had a Topcon camera. But it looks like a very usable lens. glass seems fine, aperture looks clean and grease free. If some one would like this lens I'd be happy to send it to them free of charge. I might want shipping costs though, kinda depends upon destination. Lens is a "Tokyo Kogaku Japan 13913277 UV Topcor 1:4 f=135mm " thanks--tom

  10.
Yes, the 6x9 is a real hoot.I do believe I will get the shutter serviced, it should outlast me then. I need to get in touch with a man to see what it will cost. But in the mean time I'll try Rick Oleson's method and see what happens.

Thanks to all for the reply's, appreciate it ! May all have a great day !!

  11.
Thanks for the replys everyone ! For some reason I have not had particularity good luck when attempting any shutter repairs, or cleaning. So, on any of my cameras that I value I have a strict policy of "hands off".

Charles Monday did fix the shutter on my Speed Graphic, so I might get in contact with him . If all the speeds on the Vigilant worked I would probably use it more anyways. The 6x9 negative I find quite interesting, .

  12.
Good Morning !! Rainy here, but still a great day. On my Kodak Vigilant, Which, is in excellent condition, I have a small problem. In fact, the only problem, even the glass is in remarkable shape and the bellows are light tight and supple.
The shutter operates correctly in the "T" and "B" settings. But on the other speeds, no matter which one its set on, it fires at the same speed. I'm guessing its either 1/50 or 1/25. It has the f4.5 Flash Kodamatic Shutter 105mm. I'm not to concerned about having the other shutter speeds . But I would like to figure out the shutter speed I do have? Any suggestions on how to approximate the 1 shutter speed ?

  13.
Hi Alan,
Welcome. I have a Yashica D and enjoy it . Takes great pictures (thats my opinion). Recently picked up a Yashica LM but have only ran 1 roll of film through it. I got a manual online, search for Butkus. Its free, but he would appreciate a small donation but its not required. Shoot lots of film !!!!

  14.
I have a etrsi and am wondering if I can use any of the many flashes available without harming the camera ?
I have read so much of how some flashes can fry the circuits of cameras that I'm a little bit leery. I know that on Digital camras you must be very careful but I'm unsure when it comes to older cameras such as my Bronica. Specifically, I have a Vivtar 352 flash I'd like to use with my Bronica. I have this flash so thought why not use it ? I have used it with my Yashicamat's with no harmful effects. thanks in advance for any info.

  15.
I have a Plate Holder Type A, holds cut film 2 1/4 x 3 1/4. Its in great shape, showing very little use. Research on it has me kinda confused. Do I need adapter P plus adapter M, or do I only need adapter M? On the auction site I found a horizontal and a vertical M adapter,so that tells me its not a rotating back. Will using the Plate Holder Type A on my RB utilize the entire film, or will it be 6x7? I thought that if this Holder Type A permits me to get 6x9's from my RB I'd check into what a Adapter M would set me back. But, if I can't get 6x9's out of it it might be a good time to trade or sell it.Any info would be appreciated. thanks--tom
