Yep Vincent you're right....rubbing alcohol does indeed have H2O in mixture with it.
My understanding is it beats straight water, but all these comments are appropriate.
It would be better if the camera stayed dry! :-)

My wife washed my Canon Power Shot accidently! OOPS!
(She now says she checks my pockets..... )
I did what I had been taught years ago with my film gear....after removing the battery and SD card I totally immersed it in alcohol.... rubbing alcohol that is....
After shaking it off I let it dry for about 5 days, hitting it with a hair dryer set on cool a few minutes each day.
Then I restarted it.
It still works just fine months later, and has never been so clean!
Alcohol is a last ditch effort, but it can remove the water to some degree and will evaporate much more rapidly...
(P.S.- Don't try this at home!)

I seem to recall another incident like this one...something about
"THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!"
This thread reaffirms my belief that 'Reality TV" is the way of the future!

Make sure you've updated PS CS3 and Bridge with the latest updates as well...

Nope.... my 5D doesn't do that with the Canon flash units...

You apparently crunched something in the lens. The first rule of camera care is "Don't force it!" I'd put a thread up for a good repair shop and send the camera and lens both for repair. I wouldn't advise 'grinding it' any more... you might just worsen the damage.

Every now and then someone feels led to point something like this out as proof that one manufacturer is superior in some way to another. And usually it's the "Canon vs. Nikon" story. There have been other threads like this... all of about the same real merit. Anecdotal stories only promote pseudoscience... Who knows maybe the Nikon guys and gals just stayed inside more where it was warm... Show me a test where both brands were tested under laboratory conditions by an impartial third party and I might pay attention... otherwise it's just a story.

Anyone have a lead on a good T90 repair shop?
I have a mirror spring broken and need to find someone who has experience with a T90.
Thanks.

Robert....I like the Bee's wax idea. I used to use animal tallow...but every time I went into the woods I was pestered by birds and other small critters!
Thanks for the tip!
