1.
I've had my camera for about 11 months and have taken images I like, but have not printed anything yet. Given a budget of around $500 what would be a good printer for color. What is the real cost of ink?
Large format is not important to me yet. 8 by 10 would be fine.
2.
Sigh. Really thought I had left flamers when I stopped reading high end audio boards. But the boards were useful and my music system is the better for reading them.
If you feel that vinyl is dumb, don't buy a turntable. If you feel street photographs are meaningless, then neither take them nor look at them.
Photos stop things within the shutter speed. The flower you shoot looks that way only in that 1/200 of a second. But it varies signifacantly only over hours, or days. Same for buildings, but even slower. Yosemite slower still.
But humans. That fraction of a second captures a way they are, and will never be again. The moment is in the blankest face. Don't get me wrong, I other's photos, some faces grab me, some don't. In my own, all do. I was there. I saw them at that moment.
David - thanks for the post. While a flame, it motivated me to think enough to write this response. Thus helping me crystallize what draws me to taking pictures.
3.
I am interested in a 'superzoom' lens for my Xsi. I will be traveling soon and like the range. I would take the zoom and my 50mm f1.4. Further I will go up to the replacement for the 50D when it arrives and give the Xsi to my girlfriend who now has a superzoom Canon point and shoot.
I've read a good review of the Tamron 18-270mm in Shutterbug, but have red more negatiive ones elsewhere.
Any experience/opinions out there?
Thanks in Advance,
4.
I am very new to this hobby, but am really enjoying it. Using a Canon 450D and shooting in RAW.
I am using Canon's DPP software to convert the RAW, crop, etc. My issue is that I must be somewhat unbalanced as a fair number of my shots have tilted horizons. I know Photoshop can fix this, but I do not have it yet.
Related question: If I do buy it, what format do I convert the pics coming out of DPP to export them to PS?
Thanks in advance,
- Ken
