1.
Greetings!

My wife owns Panasonic GF1 body and 20mm lens. The lens is amazing and especially so for portraits as it's pretty sharp at 1.7 and 2.0 aperture making it for a really shallow depth of field. The latter in turn creates a challenge for focusing.

She got some great shots over the years, however many of them are slightly out-of-focus. Personally, I love to use manual-focus on a camera with big viewfinder and nice focusing screen. That's just not the case with GF1. Plus, I don't think she'd ever manual-focus anyway...

I understand Face detection technology has made it into cameras and some even go as far detecting eyes and trying to focus on the closes eye of the face that's closer to the camera (or perhaps, closer to the center of the frame?). I would like to upgrade GF1 to another body that takes advantage of that technology.

Do you know which Panasonic or Oly body wold do the trick? I don't need the most recent and most-megapixel if it doesn't significantly to the ability to autofocus well on portraits.

Thank you!
