I just revived my 50mm f/1.8II lens. Living in Vegas I went to the shark reef. The lens was working fine till I went home and reviewed the photos. All the photos look like they were in black and white. I have not change any settings in my canon 450D. I have taken photos with the kit lens and the 70 - 300 f/4 - 5.6 IS USM and all the photos had excellent color. Is it a bad lens or is it regular with this lens because it is using old parts?

Are any of the 3rd party flashes any good. I was reading about one that has continues flash forgot which brand it was. Canon flash says it recycles faster than the old one but do not know how fast it is. I want one that flashes close to my Rebel 450D faster speed. Can I replace the bulb or do I have to replace the whole thing?

Michael, I to read about the problems in the beginning. Canon helped with the fix in the first year maybe longer. Do not know if they fix it for free now. Has anybody else have this problem as Michael.

I am thinking of getting a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM which has been out since 2007. I want to know how long does each lens stay in circulation till canon update its lens. I know the body is about 19 -24 months but I don't know about the lens. I just do not want to buy a lens when its revise version is around the corner.

Has anyone tried a microSDHC card in a Canon Rebel Xsi 450D. I want to know if my camera or any dslr camera can use the card. Thinking of getting one for a phone and camera storage, having music and photos in the same card. Are there any negatives on using a microSDHC card in a Canon Rebel?

Thanks for all the feed back but I have one more question. On the canon G10 or Panasonic P&S or any P&S do any of them have maual focus meaning in live view do you get a white box you can move around the screen and focus on the objesct you are trying to take a picture of. I hate the auto focus on P&S it sometimes focus on other objects than the one you want on the picture.

I never thought of getting the newer SD and put the CHDK app on. Thanks for the update. Yes the canon G10 is not picket size, went to circut city for hands on kind of slow in the menu but overal its ok. Going to wait for a couple of days till it goes down again.

Bill, I never edit RAW in my camera. The small screen and resolution does not give me enough information to edit the photo properly. I do fix the photo in my computer when I have some time. Even though it is a pain to manualy fix my photos. I like RAW for the high depth of the photo. I know that G10 and LX3 don't wright tiff. I just want to know if it make sense to get a P&S that has RAW for a backup to my dslr?

Rob I know about the app for the canon to make the photos RAW. I need a new camera that has IS on it too.

Sarah I to like to edit my photos in a computer to my liking. I did not know if you make jpg to tiff it makes it better. I thought it only help with the save compression.

Even thought my friend is one of those photographer that say it does not mater about the camera to take a good picture it is the operator and he thought ma allot of tricks. It just seem iffy what my friend told me about RAW in a P&S.

I have a Canon powershoot SD500 and going to upgrade in a couple of weeks. I want to get a P&S that has raw but one of my freinds said there is no point in getting a camera that has raw because its image sensor is to small to make a diffrence on the image and that jpeg is good enough in a P&S. I know when useing jpeg the camera does all the settings autmaticaly and RAW is better so I could do all the tuning manualy. I also have a dslr for my main camera I just want a camera that I could put in my pocket when going out at night. So does RAW make a diffrence in a P&S or is it just a wast of money? I am thinking of getting a Canon G10 or Panasonic for its lense, the Nikon looks good with the geo tag and all but it draines the battery to fast and sometimes it can't get your location.

I had the same problem when I bought my rebel xsi 450d. When I take pic in the camera it look great but when I blow it up, I could see all the blurs in the photo. Even when using a tripod the image was not sharp. Then I read the digital photography book. It says to get sharp photos use the magnifying glass with the plus on it. Zoom in to object and focus on it. When I want to make my pic sharp, I usually focus then use the magnifying glass it goes to 5x then I focus again, then I press the magnifying glass again to 10x and focus again. Press the magnifying glass again to return to normal. Then take the picture. This only seems to work in live view only though.

I have been reading photgraphy books and some of the magazines, for about a month. New to the whole dslr. In almost every book I read it state "after you import your photo, you should adjust the sharpness of the photo." I ususally just import and mess with the lighting in the photo. Should I always sharpen the photo after I import? What other things should I do with the photo? I have lightroom 2, nik complete photoshop add-ons and photoshop cs4 extend. I have been messing around with the tools, I joust don't know how to make my photos "jump at me".<div>

I have been reading the forum about L glass, how sharp it is, better build and other things. In any poast I don't see any comparision of photo's using a l glass and a regular glass. I even googgle the comparision they show me images in diffrent area of the picture but I want to see the whole picture. I have two glass that give me good pictures but I am thinking of getting a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM as my standard glass. Any upload phots are welcome are or any website. I haven't found a good one to compare to two.

I am going to try the string test, see how its going to work for me. I was also thinking of using a monopod, I learned my lesson taking pictures in Hoover dam with a tripod. I just don't see myself carring it around. I guess that is the annoyance of getting good pictures.

I think the f/4 is to slow because I know I am going to take allot of photos at night too. With the city I am going to, setting up a tripod is going to be hard.

I am going to China for vacation in May. I have a canon rebel xsi with the EF-S 18-55IS kit, I also have a EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. I want to get a glass which I could leave on the body for my vacation and will be my standard glass. I was looking at the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM but it is to slow for me. I am not sure about 3rd party lenses. There seams to be allot of negative than positive about it. What are the best glass for this type of situation? Also what kind of range should I look in a glass?
